Just a heads up that the price drops may be coming in soon. The company I work with has a dell preferred account and we recently were notified by our rep that for closing out the quarter the 2405fpw was $797 and the 42" plasma lcd was $2499. Looked like an awesome price to me but not available to the general public atm I don't think.

Can you PM me with your company's name and a quote # on the 2405 @ $797 if available?

Yea, same here, I need to get in on that deal!

Me too

Sorry, it wouldn't do me any good to pm the info anyway. The deal was a two day deal only and I didn't have a chance to check the boards again until this morning . I just wanted to give a heads up that that kind of pricing should be out there soon I would think.

Not to derail the thread, but what did Sony do to Star Wars Galaxies a few days ago?

All,
Is it better to have 1x 2405FPW or 2x 2005FPWs?

With the 2x 2005FPW you get 3200x1050 resoltuion and the two separate screens makes it easier to partition windows, i.e. one program on one monitor a different one on the other monitor

With the 2405fpw it will be a constant problem sizing windows just right to fit multiple windows in the screen.

Maybe one 2405fpw and one 2005fpw would be better..lol what do you guys think is optimal?

ymee, I personally believe 1 2405FPW would be much better. I have 2 21' trinitrons now, and they are large and heavy. I personally think its a pain to use both displays, and wish I was able to pull up multiple windows all on a singal display. I'm going for the real estate all on one screen. I think it's just a matter of personal preference.

A monitor arm to correctly put the LCDs close to each other would cost a lot of money.

*waiting for another deal to occur*

why would you need an arm to move them side by side. cant you just place the two so their bezels touch?

Got my 2405 yesterday and I love it. It really has to be seen to be believed. You just have no idea how big it is until its 2 feet in front of you.

As for Star Wars Galaxies they put in a huge Combat Upgrade this week which basically changed the entire combat system and 90% of the game itself. Its now all level based and crafting too a huge nerf. They are trying to turn the game into World of Warcraft but without all those cool quests and content WoW offers.

I along with many others have cancelled all my accounts. I had 2 or 3 at different times many others had 6 or more.

Its sad for me after playing SWG for two years. I would be more upset than I am except for the fact I made a few thousand dollars off selling in game credits on ebay or to wholesale sites so all the money I payed Sony I got back many times over along with two years of fun

Well, I see it's been a nearly a month since the last post. I'm curious - what is the 'going price', with coupons, etc, for the 2405? Anybody have any suggestions as to how to get this printer at its best price?

Well, I could deal with a delayed shipping, but what is the best price right now that anyone knows of?

A HOT DEAL price is under $850, that's only happened once.

So good luck

The $850 price was no doubt to spur interest and kick-start sales for their new flagship product. IIRC, they did this with their 2001fp when it was first introduced (at the time, 20" LCDs were uncommon and Dell's MSRP was already hundreds less than the competition). It wasn't until a couple years later that we started seeing "hot deals" on it. I expect something similar to happen with the 2450fpw.[1]

[1] It's interesting that this wasn't the case with the 2005fpw. Dell started offering "hot deals" within a year of its release.

I don't think that is true at all. If you look on ebay, you can buy a 25% off 2405 coupon for dell small business which brings it to $899. Find a $X dollars off that stacks, and you are very close to meeting/beating that $850 mark.

On another interesting note, when configuring a dimension 8400 in dell home, you can upgrade to the 2405 for $899. You can then use the 25% off any dimension for a total system price of $1476 (+||-). I wasn't sure how much the box could be sold on ebay...but it could be a way to net the 2405 for less than $850 (with some work).
