I work for Dish Network, and now have done Activation, Billing, Sales, Programming Changes, and finally now i'm taking Tech calls.
DHP (Digital Home Plan) Is the leasing option. You Must have atleast 1 322 or 1 522 rcvr on your accnt. This promo will be changing again soon, if not allready (didn't get to attend my 5 min meating today).
Keep in mind as of now the 522 rcvr is only capable of running in Dual Mode, meaning it will supply 2 tv's with info. It's not currently supporting single mode, so getting 2 programs on 1 tv (record 1 while watching another) isn't going to happen. Also, there is a Dish VOD (Video on Demand) fee everymonth of $4.98.
If you're into the HD stuff, retailers are selling our brand new 921 HD DVR, as far as a price, I don't know.
And to answer the question about leasing...Well some people like the lifetime warranty + $29 service call charge, compared to the owning option which is a 1 yr warranty + $99 service call charge, unless you get the PXW (Premium Extended Warranty) which is $4.99/mnth + $20 activation fee + $29 service calls - and you have to maintain it for 12 mnths.
Also, if you don't like giving your SSN # out, dont give the rep a hard time - it's not our fault, and trust me, we DO get tired of being yelled at, even if you mention the cheese line "I'm not mad at you"
The 510 also has the VOD fee per mnth.
The 811 wont be avilable through Direct Sales for Exisiting Customers 'till an estimated date of Jan 5th, Unless you get the HD In A Box - which is the 811 w/ HD Monitor + Dish 500 Sat Dish..
Any question, feel free to ask
