I like everybody else ordered the ADA880 for $24.95. I placed two separate orders each for one of the speakers. I knew that it won't be fulfilled.
However I gained some hope when I found out the order has been confirmed and is undergoing processing. Then like everyone else I received two cancellation notices by e-mail. But I checked my order status and one of the two orders showed that it had "shipped" and the other one had been "cancelled". Hmm I thought to myself. Then I checked Citibank Online and did indeed find out my credit card had been billed for $22.90
The shipping status for the order didn't show a tracking number so I assumed that this was a screw up on their system. I was afraid to call because they might just reverse the order and credit me back the credit card. I printed out all the documentation proving that they had billed me and the order had shipped, and sent a certified letter to Dell demanding the fulfillment of my order.
That same day (12/24) the UPS man came knocking on my door and guess what I had the speakers. But it wasn't the Altec Lansing ADA880 but instead a ADA885. I am guessing that these speakers are better than ADA880 but even if they aren't who cares? It only costed $22.90
Anyone know how much these speakers go for these days? I guess I got lucky as this was one of the few deals I was able to participate in.
No Netbank's 5.25% refinancing, no pricematching Regency Camera, no Windows XP Pro for $52, no ripping off Staples on a weekly basis with phony pricematches and $10 coupons, no Plasma TV for $1300, etc. I also don't gobble up inventory from stores just to Egay it and prevent everybody else from participating. So this was a nice deal for me from Dell, a retailer that everybody here seem to hate. I just hope they don't read my letter and demand me to return the speakers.
