S13- I'd be very surprised if we couldn't improve your results. Try the CPU forum here.

one of the forum members ask me to update my progress

old rig
3.0C p4 478 running at 3.6ghz 240FSB 1:1 1gb pc3700 OCZ ram, abit is7

new rig
X2 3800+, 2gb crucial ballistiks, asrock 939 running at 2.4 ghz 1:1 240 FSB, manchester chip

anyway the X2's are VERY nice chips as most can attest to also

I have the asrock 939 dual sata board, which is a nice starter board --it has limitations, but overall the price/performance helps ease the cost transition to the expensive X2 chips

anyway

overall multitasking is all its cracked up to be

I can surf the internet, decode a dvd, have photoshop open, and un-winar as much as 10 files without a hiccup

I dont game, but as far as a office/business pc things chips really do what HT was not really able to do "in the real world" IMO

so IMO the X@ 3800+ is the perfect price point, espeically if you can get a toledo

but evem with my manchester, I popped it in, uppded the Vcore to 1.4,and upped the FSB to 240

and its been on running for two three weeks straight so while Id like to have theexta cashof the 4400 X@, considering what I paid, id take the 3800+ any day over thehigher end chips

I was waitng so long to move up to dual processing,a s I almost bought a G5 apple, butim glad I waited for the 3800+ as they run VERY cool, (45@C at full load)

I was suprised my ballistik ram worked in the asrock board since the max voltage is 2.7-2.8V

I cant really oveclok the timings to toghter than stock on this board, but thats dude to the lack of voltage

the chip I have definitely has more available, but the lck of ram voltage is limiting a bit

also I have a scythe ninja, heatsink, and these things are SWEET!! albeit large , but they do fit if someone is interested

oh well I guess

If I can get at least 2.4ghz Ill be happy

I have yet to hear one person that didn't get passed 2.4. Originally i was kinda like you but i told myself i would be happy if i could hit 2.5

I have an X2 3800+ (Toledo core) on the ASRock board and I can't get past 2.0Ghz and be stable, so now you know of at least one person who can't

I didn't get the chip from ZZF though and I am happy with it at stock speeds

Update the bios dude..you can't overclock unless you update the bios on the asrock boards. If you can't get pasted 2.0Ghz even when you do that then there is something DEFINITLY wrong.

BV. Ordered Monday (9/19) morning.

Let us know how it clocks.. I have a BV, and it does just fine..

I'm still not seeing all of the ' awsome ' overclocks with Toledo 3800's, that some seem to be expecting..

Okay, I've got my 3800+ from ZZF running at 2650MHz 1.55V with a stock heat sink and fan. My board is a DFI LanParty SLI-DR. It's 10 x 265. It's amazing. I think my results are so favorable because of the enthusiast motherboard coupled with the most expensive 510W power supply on earth ($219, PC Power & Cooling).

heres my chip.. luckily i took pics before throwing it in

amdx23800.jpg

its not on the box its on the cpu. You got a manchester core and the first person ive seen post with one. When did you get your cpu. Everyone ive been traking have got a toledo core recently..

posted above, order 9/9 from zoom zip fly.. i dont really care.. this guy replaced a dual xeon 2.4 and its kicking ass.. so i dont even plan to over clock it.. as its a 1.5tb file server at home... lots of critical stuff on it.. (mostly VMs)

EDIT: forgot to say, I hope you get urs.. good luck..

You aren't overclocking it...what . Dude i would really do it but if your happy with what you got. Can you really see a difference on a file server..i would think an xeon 2.4 dual would be more than enough horsepower for that.

He did say "lots of VMs" and virtual machines done right require some heft depending on what you're up to .

They are decent I'd say. I got mine on the 12th and its a manchester. It runs 2.5ghz Prime stable at 1.44v with stock cooling.

I got 2.6GHz on my Winchester right now. I don't think it's worth upgrading unless there is a reasonable chance of getting the same on a 3800+. Then it will run games the same and be a much better machine for multitasking. I wonder if any software developer has bothered to work on a mulitcore optimized product yet.

Just recieved mine from ZZF.
I didn't expect I had a chance for a CD core, but I was wrong.
Lets hope this flies. I paid $333 shipped, but that night it went down $2.
Last I checked it was $331.

Has anyone ordered from Newegg and gotten the Toledo?
Where does ZZF ship from?

People have gotten both the Toledos, and Manchesters. But really, the core won't make a difference in your OC. Anyways, the world record holder for an OC is a Manchester anyway

Thanks. I am very close to pulling the trigger. Damn eVGA deal. Makes me buy a new CPU to go with the new MB and 7800.
