i know that dell 8200 users can swap geforce 420 modules 32 mb with geforce 440 64 mb.
If the geforce 420 comes in a similar form factor then ppl can buy the geforce 440 64 mb ( it goes for ~150$)
could make a pretty decent laptop

jeebus, this thing is a behemoth

8.2 lbs. with battery and weight saver
8.6 lbs. with battery and floppy drive

probably performs very well, though....

I considered buying the Dell 2650SE in Bit's Dell deal earlier. I also considered buying the Sony FXA53 for a pretty low price of $1299.

I thought and re-thought about my laptop purchases many times and finally concluded that anything over 4 or 5 lbs. CANNOT be considered a notebook. Therefore I pulled a 180 and bought a Sony VX88, a mere 4.42 lbs. and the design kicks ass. sure I spent $300 more and sure, it's a PIII 850 as opposed to a P4 1.7Ghz but I feel that my VX88 has more value than the FXA53 or the Dell 2650. If I wanted power, I already have it at my home PC. When I need something for the road, I need something light, usable, and cool.

Now, this NVR23 notebook is like a brick. It's almost 10 lbs!!! Geez...that kind of defeats the purpose of having a portable computer doesn't it?

...just my 2 cents

15" is quite adequate for a laptop...any more than 14 actually and you just end up wasting battery.

it all depends on your individual needs. if this is your primary computer, and you only travel two or three times per year (say a college student), then a desktop replacement like this one would be a good choice. if you're a business user who lives on the road however, and have a computer at home that is your primary workhorse, then no, this is not the ideal computer to buy.

Nice...I'm probably getting a laptop around christmas and this looks like a good choice. Hopefully, the price will be a little lower by that time.(I'm cheap)

i would agree with dethman. this makes a good desktop replacement. considering most high end P4 laptops measure at 8-9 lbs.
i think 8.6 is ok. if u want a lighter laptop go for compaq P4 2800. but if u want an AMD laptop, this is a good choice

rossman is gonna tell you that a 15" xga display isn't so great, and that a 15"sxga+ or better is the way to go.

Yes litterally.

Sorry AMD's strong suite it NOT mobile processors, I have a friend with a 1Ghz Athlon 4 and it overheats and freezes up on him alll the time. To add in the higher end graphics etc your battery is going to hate it.
