Damn straight. I encourage everyone to check out an XGA and SXGA display side by side at your local CompUSA, go for the SXGA!

i fyou go for the dell 8200 check out the UXGA ultra sharp (1600 x 1200). even tho its not much usable at that resolution , its
one of the brightest, high contrast screens available, makes working on 1024x768 a pleasure.
i think (someone verify this) only sony and toshiba have a similar screen available, but at a higher price
but for ppl who want AMD this is the best laptop

What chipset does it use? Obviously it's not an integrated chipset. And why don't almost all notebooks have USB 2.0?

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that Intel does not provide native motherboard USB 2.0 support yet for laptops. Of the major vendors, only Compaq has thus far offered USB 2.0 on their notebooks. They do this by adding a small but separate chip to the motherboard to add this functionality.

I believe Toshiba and Gateway have models with USB 2.0 around the corner. The 5205 from Toshiba and the high end 600XL from Gateway. Do not know if this is through an add-on chip or if Intel has already integrated native USB 2.0 support.

Again, I could be wrong, but that is my understanding.

I was leaning toward this NVR23 before I saw that amazing deal for compaqs at staples. So I'm looking at the compaq 900Z at staples. It has the IGP 320M chipset and it's supposed to have USB 2.0 on the southbridge as per a review by anandtech of the 900Z, but the specs at hp.com says only USB 1.1.

Also, I need firewire too on a laptop. The 900Z specs say no firewire, but the anandtech review shows clearly there's a 4-pin firewire port. But a 4-pin port is useless since the 6-pin end of the cable is used to plug into a computer!! And a 4-pin to 4-pin cable costs a lot more. So now I need to get a 3-port firewire + USB 2.0 PCMCIA combo card. Jeez, the trouble I need to go through for peripheral connectivity.

i believe the one you are referring to is the 900US not the 900Z

The 900US is the pre-configured retail model. The 900Z is BTO. But they're both the 900 series and the 900 series uses the ATi IGP 320M.
