If you think about it, the power supply is worth the $55 price alone. I checked the W. Little Rock store yesterday and they had about 8 of them left. The shelf tag even said, "clearance, $54.99". I didn't pick one up but I may do so today on second thought.

Roger that. The PS is a 350W Smartpower, not the Trupower with the load-controlled fan outputs, but it's still a 350W ANTEC PS, which means it's good quality and has a warranty that the manufacturer would honor if need be. The PS alone is $50 most anywhere you look. The 835 is a big case. Sweet front panel USB/Firewire ports too.

This is definitely a YMMV. Just checked the Naperville, IL BB and no go -- rang up as $70. Not bad, but not $55 either .

wait a minute the old 835 and new 835 II has the same UPC, I know cause I bought one last week for $68 at Southlake, GA.

I think this may be the root cause of why they are selling the SX-835II for $55. Went to West Charleston Las Vegas store and they had the SX-835 (not the II version) for this price. One box had been opened (case was still in its plastic wrap untouched) and the sales manager gave it to me for $45 so I can't complain. Still had the dual fan 350 watt power supply in it, but not the front USB ports.

If you call the stores to see if they have them in stock and they can't find a listing for Antec SX835 ask for Model 80841 instead (their stock number for the SX-835). West Charleston store had one and Maryland Pkwy had two, but these are the old SX835's.

Thanks guys!

Just picked up the case from the second Best Buy I
visited in Chicagoland. The first one had it for 89.99
(with clearance tag on it!). When I told the sales guy
that it was on clearance .. he said that 89.99 is the
clearance price. Well, went to another BB where they
had the tag of 54.99 on clearance .. but all shelves
were empty! Coaxed the sales guy into giving the
display model to me.... 44.99!! No manual ... but
looks great.

By the way, which processors and mobos you guys are
planning to put in? Any good deals around?

Also, what's the issue with the two USB ports .. are
they 1.1 ... can they be "converted" to USB 2?

Thanks again friends!

He shoots . . . He scores!!!

Picked up an SX835 at one best buy for $59.99, only to find an SX835 Series II at a best buy down the road at $54.99. Go figure.

If anyone in Minneapolis is interested, I will be returning the SX835 to the Burnsville BB tomorrow. As of today, the Burnsville, Richfield and Edina BB's are all out of stock.

I went to Best Buy last week after hearing about this case from this forum.
Here in Wilmington, NC the clearance price was $76.99. I asked the salesman to scan it and mentioned about other Best Buy's having it for 54.99. He said the $76.99 is the clearance price and I bought it anyway...
I went back tonight with printed forum pages in hand , showed another (more useful) employee that someone else in our state, Pineville, NC got it cheaper than their posted price. He jumped on the computer and kept checking stores until he found one in Greenville listing it for $ 54.99.
He said he will "pricematch" the price, ironically from their own self! I thanked him for his persistance in finding me the best price and left with my deduction.

by the way, this is a great case. I have been looking for something to rebuild my system with and nothing could match it case/PS wise for the $$

What a noob...luckily this is not a deal where printing forum discussions would ruin it for everyone. But in general, showing store managers/employees discussions on FW or anandtech will mean an end to the deal.

If I am being a fvcking dick then so be it. I have seen too many deals ruined by someone who doesn't understand the nature of these forums. Even worse, I know someone who use to give us previews of coming weekend deals but because someone told a store manager about this site, this person ended up losing his job. Maybe he shouldn't have been posting the info in the first place but he was trying to help us all out. As forum members, we should be a little smarter than the average joe.

It's like a new driver who gets into an auto accident. You dont just say, "oh, it's okay because you just got your license." That driver has a responsibility and it doesn't matter that he is new. Also, someone's first post doesn't necessarily imply that they are new, there are many lurkers out there. And if someone reads this thread, I'm sure they have had opportunities to read others too. Rather than referencing to the site, someone could ask for a scan of a receipt or something. I have seen many many new members do that. How come some understand the procedure and others don't?

Sorry if the my action is unacceptable here in the forums. I understand your concerns.
Please remember that I already bought this at the $76.99 price, they already had my money. Then I went back after numerous posts of members getting this "ticketed" price from a national chain. I did not get any help from the first salesman other than the shrug of a shoulder when I mentioned that a friend got his for a discounted price originally. But because of a member stated the city of purchase in a prior post, I was able to call that store and ask if they had any more in stock at the clearance price. When I went back tonight to pricematch, I was able to mention the store location which the sales man was able to verify on his computer and then follow store policy offering me the difference. All done very friendly and with a "thanks". As far as the printed forum, I had that for prices and location of a store (Pineville).
Maybe I'm new to posting here, but I did not take this to be a shady store manager dealing in any way that may cause further harm to members. Rather I hoped to enlighten. I will keep the Anand forum name quiet (and keep the hot deals to us). Sometimes us newbies need some directives.
Enough of that.
Tomorrow my 8rda+, xp2100, crucial pc2700 ram and thurs a Thermalright SK-7 with YS-Tech 3-pin Fan will arrive. Chosen because of generous posts and recommendations from the members.
So in short,Thanks

as long as you understand that it is NEVER, let me repeat, NEVER a good idea to bring in a printout from a forum like this...like someone said an office depot employee lost his job over this...most likely no one will get fired over something like this but there's a good chance you can kill the deal

as long as i'm lecturing, NEVER EVER CALL A CSR, don't be the person who calls k-mart and says "where's my $20 mp-3 jukebox"

next time - ask for a scan of someone's receipt...this is what you need

"As far as the printed forum, I had that for prices and location of a store (Pineville)."
no post-it notes? i write stuff on my hand even...
i'm not trying to be accusatory or anything (because dude isn't being confrontational about it, so i won't either)
but it is quite depressing, as we don't know what will result from this member's actions -- they may be quite far-reaching
we just saw that during the fw/wallyworld fiasco
and the member that lost a job as a result of such action was neo v, who worked for office max
i believe a member named vtqanh also lost his job as a result of posting hot deals from ccity last dat
i'm just saying.

Scored the case for $54.99 at BB in Dedham, MA. They had it in their computer at $64.99 but I had spoken with the Cambridge, MA store earlier in the day and they had it for $54.99. The Dedham folks had no problem pricematching the Cambridge store...

Strange that the price would be different at two stores so close together...

Scored one for $54.99 in Madison, TN. Tag said $67.99 or so. Thinking putting the 400W (PP412X) PSU out of my SX840 in this and using it, then selling off the SX840 w/ SX835II PSU.
Like the USB/firewire port and the fan filter on the 835II, but like the integraded floppy slot on my 840 for some reason.

Are Smart Power PSU's any different than the older Antec PSU's like my PP412X?
Also someone said Antec PSU's have CWT components or are made by them?

I picked up the last two at a milwaukee best buy by southridge, I'm guessing other stores in the area may still have some. They were both different. Both were 835's but one didn't have the USB, Firewire ports in the front. Both were $57.99. I had to pick one up for me and a friend. The sales person didn't know the price, he had to get them down from the rack and check the sku's. There was no price on the floor. He was surprised, because he knew you could barely get one of the antec power supplies for that price.
