OK, this deal is dead!
I ordered this drive at Staples yesterday late at night for $31.77 to be shipped to my place on Wednesday this week. Today, at 8:00 p.m. they call me, and say that their corporate branch has reviewed that pricematch, and that it will not go through, because they did not calculate the second day delivery charge for googlegear. So they could close the order now, and ship it next day to me. Well, too bad that days at Staples end at 5 p.m. and that today is allready Wednesday, according to the stupid manager on the phone. So next day would be Thursday, and since that is a Holiday, next day is Friday. Don't ask me, I still don't understand that myself. So badically, I ordered a 16x DVD drive from Staples on Monday, will get in on Friday, and should pay $69.97 (and they still call it next day delivery!). Well, I could have ordered it at Googlegear or Newegg for $34 to be shipped to my place on friday. I told that the manager on the phone, and she read me the last paragraph of their pricematch policy, which states that they reserve the right to change their policy at any time without further notice. Then it got funny. She said that they had tried to contact me earlier in the day around 1 p.m. I remember picking up the phone, but nobodey being on the line. So she says that it is my fualt that I will resive the item on Friday, because at Staples, the day ends at 5 p.m. And because they tried to contact me at one, they can still call Friday next day after Monday. Why does it take them seven hours to try for the second call anyway? I think Staples has some serious problems, and I recomend anyone to stay away from them, unless they are prepared for long hours on hold at their stupid calling centers, where they have twice as many "managers" as regular people, because they get so many complaints.
