Just got the flyer in the mail yesterday. $19.95/month including cable modem lease for six months, then $45.95/month after that. No contract required, though, so you can quit after six months if $46 is too rich for you. AT&T runs this deal every few months, but it's still nice to know when it's available.

btw I live in Seattle.

If you have them in your area, you might also want to try RCN. I got fed up with my AT&T connection not working and signed up with RCN for a bazillion cable channels, cable modem, local phone service, and free local toll calling for $100 a month (it's actualy $120 - $20 for the first year).

Just FYI...

Cause @Home is a trademark of the Excite@Home corporation. Since Excite and AT&T couldn't agree with how the money was going to be dispersed, AT&T basically said "screw you" Excite and your bankrupted a$$. So now AT&T changed it to AT&T broadband.

The best I can do in this area is $42/mo for Earthlink/Time Warner cable Internet. No free month even.

I'm staying away from DS-HelL since I'd rather have AOL dial-up than fork over any money to SBC.

I guess this could be hot if you are still on dial up, but if there are other high speed options in your area take them instead of AT&T. I wouldn't go back to AT&T broadband if they gave me an internet connection free for life!

I have had nothing but trouble with them. Late service calls, missed service calls, having to wait 2 weeks for a tech to come out, long waits on the phone, tech support people that tell you they can't help you, lies from CSR's as well as tech support, 3 weeks of downtime when it was supposed to be 3 days... I could go on, and I foolishly stayed with them for 3 years. Plus another thing that upsets me besides the fact that AT&T boosted their rates awhile back is that they don't and will not offer the buy your own modem plan in my area. I finally dumped them for Earthlink DSL at a slightly higher price but it is worth it to not have to deal with AT&T headaches. Oh and another thing is this $19.95 a month deal is the only thing AT&T will ever do for you. Don't expect any benefits at all for being a long term customer.

Check out www.dslreports.com for info on AT&T/ATTBI/@Home/etc...

Sorry for the rant, I just wouldn't want to see tons of people falling into the trap of AT&T.

Hmm, so you're saying I shouldn't dump Earthlink DSL and get ATT cable? Because that's what I was planning to do with this deal. Earthlink ain't all that great either. Dammit why is it so hard to find a good ISP?

hoihtah - you might want to get a copy of the ad and try calling them. I was in the same situation with Time Warner and Roadrunner. Offer for 3 months at $19.95 2 weeks after i'd already been connected. Called TW and told them I wanted that deal and gave them the code...took 'em a minute to think about it but they let it go through pretty easily. I know it's not the same company but it's worth a shot.

Any way I can find any similar offer? I'm in the L.A. market.

Btw, I was an ATT@Home customer for over two years, and overall, was very pleased with the service and value.

The biggest complaint was that @Home email was the most unreliable in the world.

Wonderful! Now I have another reason to be angry, because broadband (cable or DSL) is STILL not available in my area.

BobGoNext, I was wondering the exact same thing, if anyone has any info on cancelling your current AT&T account (or simply asking them to apply this for you) we would appreciate it. Also, I followed that link, but didn't see where the deal info was, any ideas? Of course, I am getting an error message when I try to click on packages and pricing, ugh.

I'm paying $60 plus a few more dollars in taxes to have Comcast without a TV subscription. No offense to anyone affiliated with Comcast(tech's have been great) but they're a bunch of crooks. From $30 to over $60 in less then six months. Plus, now NO NEWSGROUPS.:disgust:

Started writing down all my horror stories with Comcast, but it was getting lengthy and I thought it was more appropreate over at bitch and moan.

Hot for those who have it available in their area

I just signed up at the beginning of this week, after switching from Verizon DSL for around $60 a month (had to pay Verizon and a seperate ISP) and much slower speeds.

I could only get a $20 a month for three months with a $10 premium installation. It was either the $10 premium install or $50 basic install. They didn't have the six months at $20 deal, and also didn't have the free installation deal. But I had called the day before to check if I was servicable and was offered a free installation right that moment. I am thinking maybe they are only allowed to give out promotions at random, or only at certain times, but that doesn't make sense.

You are paying half price for the install so that comes out to $100.00, then you get the the $19.95 for 6 months. Still a better deal than my $60.00 a month that I'm paying now.

If you call and you have the service already it's a no good. You can cancel the service but to re-connect is $100.00 within the first 90 days. That makes this deal $200.00 for install and re-connect fee and then the $19.95 for 6 months.

Great deal if you don't already have it.
