Just saw it over at Techbargains. They said the price reduction was due to the announcement of the new ATI 9700 chip. This is a very hot deal!

1) There are two $50 rebates.
2) People usually don't mention tax and there's no shipping if you pick it up at CC.
3) You should be nicer.

Search for ATI 8500DV--> two rebates.

Only problem is both require "Original UPC (bar code) label from ..." I imagine one will allow a copy (this is common with multi-rebate / different promotions), but who knows. If I decide to spend the cash, I'd call the rebate center first and "OK" this.

edit: typo, again

I printed out the two coupons (rather blurry). Doesn't appear to be stackable, in other words, I think you can only do one of the rebates. Both require the original UPC code from the package.

I spoke with a CC rep. He confirmed with the Rebate provider that both rebates CANNOT BE USED, only 1 is valid per purchase.

Sucks, but still a decent price.

I spoke with a CC rep too, she said that she "thinks" that a copy can be submitted...she suggested that I call the hotline just in case...and the hotline is nothing but an automated phone system...anyone we can talk with about this that actually knows?

Why couldn't this be on the 128mb AIW??

Good deal tho', as long as you can use both rebates.

personally i think the 8500dv is better b/c it includes the firewire ports. i woudlnt buy an aiw for normal gaming, only as a entertainment center pc to use as a tivo box

I have a firewire on my Audigy. B'sides that I could just upgrade to USB 2.0. Even tho' I don't have anything to plug into either one of those. . . . aaaand I have the 8500 64mb and a TV capture card now, so I couldn't justify an upgrade unless I doubled my memory and integrated into one. (That's my justification, and I'm sticking to it!)

This card is really slow. If it were the 128MB version, it would be a good deal but it isn't so I'll pass.

this is a pretty darn good deal, if it weren't for it being Circuit City rebates! DOH! and I'm pretty sure both are valid, since they go to different places!
269 incl tax + 9months for rebates is not hot for me.

Y is this card slow?? isn't 64mb enough to render all the tv pixels?? If i was buying this card not to play games but for other things would it be worth it?

i am telling you, this card ISN'T slow!

he must be a hardcore gamer who uses 32bit @ 1600x1200 resolution...
or maybe he meant it is slow compared to other radeon 8500 cards..

anyway, even with the 3d games, still a nice card.

I checked the two linked rebates. Both go to the same address. Are you reading something other than the CC website.

Dang sounds like a great deal. Thanks for the heads up!

By the way, I have one of these on an small LAN/Home Entertainment MATX computer and the card is just great!

The card isn't that slow

I score 5500 in 3DMark2001SE, though that might not sound incredible, keep in mind that the computer my card is in is only a P3 800 so I'm certain I'm CPU limited. Also, I've read reviews that have the 8500DV compares favorably to the GF3 Ti200.

EDIT: Grammar

Anyone try this with a Dss Dish? Do you need an extra receiver to get this to work or can you just plug the coax into the card and go?

Couple people complained about CC rebates. I personally have submitted at least a hundred rebates to CompUSA, Staples, CC, Office Depot, etc. Of the at least a dozen I've submitted to CC, all have been processed promptly and efficiently-they are one of the best for rebates as far as I'm, concerned.
