However, the one thing I have been debating is getting the audigy 2 or the hercules game theater


I really like that external hub. I'm going to be using headphones alot, so having an external rack with volume nob would really be great

If I am getting a new card it will be the Audigy 2 Plat. EX but that is like $220+... and don't have USB hub...

Rebate goes to an address in Stillwater, OK. Never saw this address before for a rebate. Searched on Google and came up with the following from the Stillwater Chamber of Commerce website so it looks like Creative is paying the rebate.

You know, this could be bad news for us. I hope Newegg doesn't start raising their prices and using rebates like everyone else. That would suck.

Its a rebate through Creative; its the same place I sent mine back in November when I bought it thru BB.

Its still a good deal if you don't have a Fry's near you (like most of us), plus you still pay sales tax at Fry's, leaving the difference to be only $5-$7 for those outside of CA.

No, the pin-outs look the same, but it looks like Creative re-arranged them or made some of them incompatible with the A2. Theres a few discussions about this over in GH.

Yes, you can output via the s/pdif connection thru a 1/8'' mini-plug to the coaxial digital input of your AV receiver.

Audigy 2 doesn't offer much over audigy 1 esp when you install audigy 2 driver for the audigy 1 (like me). They are pretty close once they use the same drivers. Still a great deal though considering its not much more than a reg audigy.

Audigy 2 uses an entirely different sound processor than Audigy 1. The two are extremely different. No driver can make your Audigy 1 perform like an Audigy 2.

Do a google search for reviews and you'll see some good processing benchmarks and feature comparisons.

The retail bundle includes Soldier of Fortune 2: Double Helix and Hitman 2... two relatively good games.

This card rocks, by the way. I hate Creative as much as anybody, but this is simply the best gaming sound card you can buy right now.
