Yep. $50 instant rebate was either too good of a deal and they realized it based on so many people grabbing it, or more likely just a misprint. $71 after rebate isn't as good as $50 on buy.com. (and only $30 for the non-gamer version, which I believe is the same hardware).

Looks like I'll be heading over to buy.com.

I think what happened is that they had put up the price, including the rebate, and then also put up the rebate. Newegg just switched from inlcuding the rebate in the listed price to not including it, so my guess is that it was a pricing error that was corrected.

Pretty sure the only difference is that the gamer edition comes with some 2-3 year old games. The actual specs of the card are the same.

Well there is that and the non gamer only decodes DD and not DTS.

As for the price they credited my credit card the $50 diff so I got mine for the price the OP stated

Hmmmmm... dunno bout that. I have both versions and looking at the non-gamer version's box it advertises DTS decoding on it just like the gamer. Also the cards themselves were exactly identical when I had them side by side before they went into my computers. Couldn't even tell which one was which. Same drivers too. Only the game bundle was different. They were nice enough to include the 2 crappiest games from the Gamer version with the regular version though. heh
