This deal is good in the SF Bay Area too. I just picked up a copy from the Sunnyvale Fry's. They have both the CD and DVD editions ... for the same price. I think I saw at least 10 left.

Oaky, swung by the Burbank Fry's before work.
They have both the CD and DVD version. However, theses are not the ones that include a headset. Heck, for a $12 savings I can live without it. I own a much better one anyways.

As for the length of the deal??? No idea. I would ASSUME it would be good through the weekend. However, you should call your local store to confirm.

I wonder if the Battlefield designers learned anything from the Unreal Tournament 2003/2004 and Tribes: Vengeance debacles. Keep the game play that people like almost exactly the same or risk producing a bomb. A friend who plays America Army told me that America's Army 2 was gheyed up too.

Given that many recent sequels have sucked, will BF2 be a bomb too? I hope not, but we'll soon see.

Um.... to my knowledge there has been no america's army 2, unless you are talking about the 2.0 update from 1.9 (but not much changed except bug fixes and new maps)

Game play in BF2 is definitely not "gheyed up". IMO, it's better than the first 2 BF games, which is saying a lot.

I haven't played it online yet but it certainly seems like the new squad commands are condusive to a more cooperative play. You get points for for leading a squad and completing objectives that your commander gives you, and the terrain seems to require more cooperative playing. Particularly if the other team actually knows what they're doing.

The graphics are great, most of the nags from the first 2 are gone, the play requires more cooperation and the new addition of spotting the enemy for your team really enhances gameplay.

Oh, and the AI is MUCH better for the most part. I've still seen bots fly helis into hills or protrusions and occasionally get run over by my own guys...but it's far less often. And to be fair, they generally honk before plowing me down.

I definitely wouldn't say that it's a bomb...so far, it's my favorite game of the year.
