I bought a copy at Sam's Club for $44.08 today....so the Fry's deal is pretty good. I'm installing it now....I can't wait.

They were long sold out by the time I got there ...7pm ish... then I went to CompUSA and got the DVD version and they price matched it!

Fry's in Sacramento didn't stock them anywhere near the PC games. They were stacked up in a shopping cart by the software section with a little sign taped to the cart. Got the DVD version.

yea I went to the sacramento frys and they are out of the dvd version, they said it takes a few weeks to restock them. They still have a bunch of cd version tho.

The demo of BF2 I played gave me a ton of lag. No game I have played so far would keep caching at random times throughout. It pisses me off. Anyways I won't be getting this game. Buying a game that would piss you off isn't something I want to do. Unless they have some patches that makes the lag go away, then I will reconsider.

that's odd. i have a slower CPU/GPU than you and have experienced 0 lag. i might lag for a sec. when a map just starts. but that's it. I have 100% draw distance and high/med settings too. maybe your res. is too high?

this is the first BF game i've played and i think it is great. There's a nice rock paper scissors balance. though i wish the SAM's were a bit more effective. sometimes they veer away from the target at the last sec for no reason, no flares or anything!
i regularly own, which probably pisses off vet's of the game that a newb get's ranked #1.

How many cds are there in the cd version of the game? I got the cd version and I want to trade it in for the dvd version. I wonder if any store would offer me a straight up trade without the hassle even though I didn't buy the game from that store.

I walked into EBGames to pickup my pre-order and asked if they price matched. The guy said company policy prohibited it. I said I want to cancel my pre-order. I put the $10 back onto my gift card, which I will use later on. Then I drove to Fry's!!!

My specs are similar to yours and mine lagged quite a bit with the 5.6 Catalyst drivers. After downloading and installing an older set of drivers (I got the 5.4 based Omegas), the demo ran as smooth as silk.

Was at San Jose Fry's (on Brokaw) around 8pm last night - they had about 25-30 CD versions of the game available - and it was $34.99. No DVD versions though.

I tried getting CompUSA to price match and let me get the $15 gift card, but they refused.. oh well..

Not to thread crap, but I would recommend just not purchasing anything published by Electronic Arts. Between their treatment of staff members, business deals with the NFL stifling competition in that video game segment, the threat of a hostile takeover of Ubisoft, and other shady business practices, 25+ of my friends and colleagues and I have not given them another dime.

Rant off.

Nice price for those that are going to buy it anyway.

Unreal Tournament 2003 wasn't that great, but UT2004 was incredible. I still play it every chance I get. All of our LAN parties have long sessions playing the different modes this game has. Take a look at how many people still play it and you'll see is a far cry from a "debacle."
