Yep, Manassas, Va. BB is out. They were stocking the HD shelves when I was there this AM and I asked them if they were getting anymore. CS guy picked up the tag scanned it with his hand held and said "wow, great deal" unfortunetely we are OOS and this was a clearance item.

PATA rang up at $169

My BB had one at $169 too so I bought it figuring I'd try to price match and return it if I couldn't since it seems like these are going out of stock quick...

Anyone ever PM to a BestBuy clearance price at another store? Could I expect the price at the store where I bought it to go down even though they don't have any more in stock?

Same in the Racine, WI store. Even at $169, I'd probably just wait for a better deal since the Western Digital 750GB drives have been available for $179 online... just waiting for a free shipping deal on top of that.

I think they're clearing them out because the new 7200.11 drives are supposed to be out by the end of the month. Those have much higher platter densities and thus much better performance, plus up to 32MB cache.

UPDATE:

I spoke with Grand Rapids MI (alpine) store on the phone, where they said they would price match another BB if they could verify price. I went In, with contact info, and having already spoken to Mananas, VA and Mountain View, CA stores. Drives were priced full price: $289.99 I pushed (gently) for the price match, as I was promised it over the phone, however the manager stated that since it was a different district (region?) the clearance prices vary. I was a little bummed, and had him investigate when the product might go on clearance in my neck of the woods. He said they were scheduled to go on clearance next week. There were only two in stock, and I wanted to make sure that I'd get them both if/when the price dropped, I bought them both at the full price, so that I'll be able to price match should the price go down in the next 30 days. Chances are if/when it drops here it will go to $169, but I can dream can't I? Even if I've got to eat the $600 for a few weeks, the chance of getting such an outrageous deal is worth it (I don't need to be spending that $ anyway)...

If anyone hears about more stores with this price, or willing to match it please post the details! Also, recipt scans are much appreciated!

All Location in OH, either $158 or the $282. I asked the guy if he could look up different regions, he was able to pull up Northern VA region (i was just curious to see how many stores in VA had these). There was 2 stores that had them at $55, all gone of course. So if you ask them to pull in different regions, you may still be able to find some out there.

Went to two BBs in chicago yesterday. At one the drive came up at 168, the other 268. Went back today to the one on elston and the drive came up at 55.99. Bought three of them. There were still about half a dozen left. Keep checking locally, they'll probably all go low eventually.
