Well, none of the rest of us are either. It's just like going to Best Buy saying, "Oh, in Vanassas, VA, on the other side of the country, they had a clearance sale on these hard drives. Can you pricematch something 109238102381 miles away?"

There is nothing to do but try. That means to anyone who sees this thread: Take your receipts and see what success you can generate!

Couldn't even locate a single Seagate 750 HD @ my BB.

THF Blvd. in Chesterfield MO.

More than likely would not have rung up @ the $55 price though anyway.

Went to the Best Buy here in State College, PA. They were $283, so I told the guy I wanted to do a price match for this hard drive from another Best Buy location in VA. He pulled up all the Best Buys in VA, and it showed 2 of the stores having it for $56.

He needed to get approval from the manager so he went and spoke to the manager, and the manager wouldn't do it. He told me it must be an error in that VA Best Buy's system and some other BS and told me he couldn't sell it to me for that price.

I had hope for a few minutes.....but nope. They are discontinued so their not even listed on the BB website.

well i just lost an hour of my life. i went to best buy with the printed scan of the recite that was provided on anandtech and found 4 of the drives BUT they said:

we don't price match out of state recites.
we don't price match sale recites.

i argued that i have had out of state recites price matched before and the manager just kept telling me that shouldn't have ever happened. it states on their website that they dont match sale prices, but that recite didn't say sale. she somehow could look up that it was a sale on the computer and could also see the store in VA didn't have any more. so i would assume people are going to have a hard time getting this.

im very sad and pissed at this point right now. i had 4 of these puppies in my hand PEOPLE!!!!!!

Hey,

I used to work at the Bob Evans right there in the Valley. Small world.

I tried it today in Columbia, MO, and they said they wouldn't do it. They told me that they couldn't price match it and that it must have been an error. I'm going to try to call the store manager tomorrow and see if it gets appealed.

im not happy with the way best buy handled me. im not setting foot in that store for a while. the manager was downright rude to me. it was like i was trying to get something over on them.

For all you grumpy people, the OP found a great deal, possibly a Black Friday-beating deal. He did all he could: listed the item, specified the location, provided a scan of the receipt. Everything else is YMMV. He stated that as well.

I'm going back to my Best Buy tomorrow and going to see if I can find another manager to speak to. If several other Best Buy's in the United States are selling them for < $100 then they should price match.

How is it a mistake if several other BB's are selling the same drive for $56? I'll raise hell and see what happens.


When the first peon I spoke to looked in their system, I saw multipe BB's on his screen that had it for cheap. It's a discontinued model, so BB is trying to get rid of them....I'll report back tomorrow and see what's up.



If several other BB's are selling it for $56 and they are not on sale or some other special sale, then I don't understand why one BB won't price match the other.

First off, I believe BB (and pretty much all other PM fine print) all state that the price must be
a) local
b) advertised
c) available

That said, I too have faced this frustration when buying the Sumsung HDTV receiver for something under $100 a few years ago. The one at the place I was trying was very obviously unwilling to sell, and I never followed up to see if they sold nor filed a complaint w/ BB. However, I did run to another store, they did honor their policy, and I walked out a happy camper. (I should mention there's like 8 stores within a 10 mile radius, so this is not hard to do here)

Now, I also found an entire shelf of these drives, but they're all priced at $282, and they're not slated to come down yet. I'll keep checking, as I just filled up three 320GB drives and need a few of these to provide me some space.
