Actually, it is possible that they were shipped to other stores rather than bought by other customers. Either way, they're not available, and it's too bad for customers like us.
I spoke to a Best Buy manager today about their clearance sale prices, and she explained that prices vary from store to store and from district to district due to their analysis of "market activity". If an item is put on clearance, some of their inventory is sent to other stores that have higher sales volume, and the price is slashed on the remaining stock. That's why very few items are available at rock bottom prices. There's nothing sneaky about it. Some of the items I was looking for were not even on sale at the store I visited, but they were practically being given away at other Best Buy stores. It's possible that the items will be reduced in price once the stores that have a few left in stock "go through their cycle", but there's nothing definite planned at this point. They're trying to cut their losses, and I don't blame them. They're not in business for love, you know. I was in love once, and I really got the business.
