My HTML emails in Outlook Express (running in WinXP Pro) are working fine. Maybe you should try the latest version - it looks like there have been some pretty hefty improvements in his auto scripts...
more info:
HTML is mostly just text. All this program does is intercepts the text before it get passed through to your browser. If it notices for example there is a link to a picture from an adserver, it can replace that link with a (much smaller and faster to download) text link instead of the picture. A few bytes for text compared to a few thousand for pictures. Right now the bottom of my AT Hot Deals page just shows: [Ad] . When I mouseover it, it still have the link to the advertiser (in this case it was realmedia).
Another example, right now as it is, if someone requests your IP address, what browser you use, or the last few sites you recently visited, most browsers will just 'respond' with the answers right back to anyone who requested it. You should be able to say no.
Here is a copy from the Proxo log with I visit our 'red-headed' step-child site. You will notice as soon as you visit the site, @@@wallet uses GET to tell your browser to display a couple ads of different sizes. Proxo notices this before it gets to your browser and RESPONDS by blocking the two ads and replacing them with text links before the information gets passed to your browser. Take a look:

Yes, browsers should include this kind of feature as you should be able to control what you are getting sent. As it is right now you browser is kinda serving up stuff like a fax machine - you are at the mercy of the sender if you visit their page. Better ones like Mozilla does allow you some control - programs like this just give you complete control... for us control freaks!
Yeah, yeah, I know... someone out there is screaming: T.M.I.!!! T.M.I.!!! (Too Much Information)
