Hey guys found a decent deals on broadband, dsl, and dialup. I was looking for a new service provider and will either go with earthlink or comcast since roadrunner isnt in my area.

Earthlink is offering dsl for 19.95$ a month here is the link

Earthlink dsl for 19.95 a month!

Earthlink dial up for 9.95 a month if you want dial up for some reason.
dial up 9.95

Heres comcast. ill just paste what they have.

Sign-up for blazing-fast 100% Pure Broadband with scorching speeds through a connection that's always on! Incentives included: $50.00 cash back, free cable morem and wireless router (after rebates), special $19.99/mo.

Comcast Internet for 19.99

And heres one from roadrunner. Its 29.99 a month. Not as good as the others but a good alternative if nothing else is in your neighboorhood.

Roadrunner broadband for 29.99 a month

im most likely going to go to earthlink dsl since that is in my area. Just thought i'd share it with you guys. Let me know if its a good deal or if there is something better.

No, I just looked just now and apparently they upped it to $16.99/mo, and it's for a 6 month contract. You should be able to renew the contract after 6 months for the same price though. That's the way it worked before they merged with AT&T, they had 1 year contracts and you would renew it every year before the contract ran out to make sure there was no disruption in service (and price was the same, although you could call them up and get a cheaper rate if there was one available for the same plan).

I did my research on this.
Uhhh if you add that up it equals 30$ a month for a year. Honestly that is hardly bad especially when you get a load of other free software. They bundle in loads of good software worth a couple hundred. Also you get unlimited dial up with dsl offer i think. Basically you get alot more in return with this setup rather than another provider.

i'd recommend either comcast or earthlink. Earthlink offers higher speed dsl i think and its a decent price. Comcast offers slightly higher for a slightly higher price. I think earthlink is better since they bundle in a bunch of nice software while comcast doesnt and you need to have someone set up and you buy a router.

I would not count the "free software" Earthlink hands out, as you can get better software out there for free.

+-----------

# Scan for online threats up to twice as fast?single scan for viruses and spyware

http://www.avast.com/ (free)

# Automatically stays updated with the latest spyware and virus definitions

http://www.avast.com/ (free)

# Security summary lets you know what EarthLink protection tools you have installed, making it easier to manage your protection.

I guess WinXP does this already (SP2)

+---------------

"The EarthLink Toolbar, featuring ScamBlocker, is also included. ScamBlocker displays a visual safety rating for all Web pages you visit and protects you from online scams that attempt to steal your personal and financial information."

For Firefox, this tool is probably better (from google) http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/safebrowsing/

Just thought I'd tease a bit. Then I came back in to see if you updated and instead of the deal you had an explanation of why there wasn't a deal the first time. I thought that was really funny. I guess you had to be here

Similar with most broadband providers, they give you dialup for if you are away from home or if the broadband goes out. SBC has DSL with free dialup and they are only $17 a month. Someone said verizon is at $15 a month.
Better software can be found for free online, for instance this:
http://pack.google.com/
That has free norton anti virus, anti spyware, a FAR better messaging program, firefox, etc all in one conveniant download.

BTW, if I'm not mistaken, earthlink just resells whatever service is in your area. If its a better deal than what the ISP in your area charges, then go for it. They certainly should have better customer support. If the ISP is better pricing and stuff, go for it.

Comcast just bumped my downstream speed to 6Mbps (from 4Mbps). It was 2Mbps when I signed, they seem to be increasing the speed regularly.

Yah, I'd dare say that comcast is currently delivering the best $ to mbit ratio no doubt.. bare in mind you can be booted for downloading/uploading too much (I should know I was booted last year )

One reason I like covad possibly more or about the same with comcast is not that mbit is better (it was doing okay when covad was offering 6.0 mbit (5.1 mbit real) for about $60-70 a month..) is cause they offer static IP's a lot (I'm not sure you can get a static with AT&T resell, you'd have to call and ask for sure) and cause the backbone they use is Level 3 vs. comcast's AT&T backbone this in addition to matching your first ms at 10 ms generally (like comcast can give you really great ping times for gaming..) (better cause I think Level 3 is a better backbone then comcast and more regularly used for real on the net it's just IMHO that AT&T's peering with other backbones sucketh)
