No it's not BS, I was 15 mins early and was still charged the late fee. See the blockbuster I go to is overzealous about when movies are due and they don't give a grace period and are generally assholes when you bring it to their attention. Perhaps you should stop being a blockbuster fan boy and "get a clue" as you put it.

When I used to work in Blockbuster during summer time, my store manager make all the CSRs scan the returned video and games every 4 hours. If the store manager is not around and some idiot CSRs are either too busy or forgot about scanning some of the videos (like putting some of the videos into the scanned area), then you will get charge a late fee. So, it all depends on the store you go to and when. If you are a regualr in a good store, then most likely you will never get hassle about late fee. However, there are many idiotic costumers out there who would return game box with the actual game disc or returning hollywood rentals to blockbuster. What is worst is that, there are many bad costumers out there who would steal things. On any given day, there are like 3 to 4 videos and four to five items stolen because the store I worked at is huge (two times the size of a normal store). I personally caught a few of them in the act. The most outrageous is this black dude tried to steal 10 PS2 games by putting them in his backpack. Because of the high thieft rate, the store manager has started a new policy of requesting all costumers who carry a large bag to leave them with the CSRs in the front check out area. From past experience, the store manager knows that most who thieves are young African American, Hispanics, and Southeast Asians. Since the store cannot discriminate all CSRs have to ask everyone to leave their bags on the front counter. It was a pain for some of the CSRs to ask everyone to leave their bags in the front check out area because some middle-aged white housewives would start yelling racial slurs at them.

It was a horrible job since the wage is low (25cents to 50cents above minimum wage). The store always tried to force every CSR to be like a hyperactive used-car salesman to sell some stupid deals to every costumers who walked into the stores.

Suggestions,

a) W.r.t. the above set germs = 0 (you in fact have a good point, nobody is known to have been infected from DVDs, but BBT doesn't do health (physical or mental) exams on their customers, nor do they sterilize the merchandise, and there's plenty of stuff that could survive the trip; since the same or worse happens with currency, we must agree that unless you lick or suck them, the term germs ~ 0, or germs -> 0)

b) Try Netflix, they have a free trial youl'll find affordable.

c) Get a life.

Having said that, I do have a life, was not trolling geeky forums but enjoying "privileges" last night, will play tennis at 3p, have dinner at 9p, SoBe/Grove/movie/dvd? and ... while you are also "up", but thinking silly quips and enjoying yourself.
