I have a question: Why is everyone getting in on this deal? There are other places that have it cheaper, without coupons or having to buy two of them. Or am I missing something?

You're missing something. This is for retail box which comes with a full warranty and a heatsink/fan. The deals you speak of have no HSF, and warranties that are usually 15-30 days.

Askalon, generally speaking, you need pc133 ram to run amd stuff stable-like. I'm forced to stay with the more expensive and weaker performing celeron thanks to my 192 mb of pc100. If only I had a little foresight. oh well.

Anyone have any opinions of the Tornado1000 case from 3DCool.com? I know that it's kinda pricey, but the reviews seem really good. Any comments on that case?

I ordered 2 Duron 600s from Buy.com on the 11th and got them on the 15th. Both are week 29's unlockable (cut bridges). Still have yet to be tested (working too much)

I've got the non-raid version of the kt7 and I'm not using any particular compound. The chrome orb came with a thermal pad and that's all I'm using. You'll probably want some paste though bc the pad doesn't quite cover all of the processor for some reason.

And the 877 is faster bc the memory bus is at 103 or 105 and therefore the processor is wasting fewer cycles.

Good luck on the week 29's. I see a lot of people have them. I have two that I got from buy.com. Neither will work at 900mhz. They lock going into windows. I have to run them at 850 to get a stable system. Here are the specs for my system:
abit kt7
duron week 29 (two of them)
alpha pal 6035
mushkin pc 133 222 ram (128mb)
thermal paste used
The cpu's operate from about 38C at idle and 42-45C during operation. I turned the ram settings down and everything trying to get them to go faster but nothing will work. Do you have any ideas? The guy at overclockers workbench had two retail week 29's that did 1 gig at 1.75 volts. Currently mine is running at 1.825 volts. It does not help to run it at 1.85 volts. Help!!! Would I even be able to tell the difference at 900mhz? Do you guys put the cpu strength setting on 2 or 3 in the bios?

Oy! I have a very small home office network (3 PCs). I just tried to use the network for the first time since installing the KT7/Duron 600 combo and the network card is freaked bad. Reinstalled physically and drivers. are there known networking probs with the KT7? I recall someone else mentioning NIC probs.

the apg slot shares with pci slot one. If you have an agp card do not put the nic card in slot one. Also slots 2 and 3 share. I heard soundblaster live cards do not like to shared with anything. I have my soundblaster live in slot 2 and my nic card in slot 5.

Hi guys, I'm trying to hit 1ghz and can't quite do it. Here are my specs, lemmie know of any suggestions.

If I bump to 10x100, I get no video. I had this same problem at 8x100 1.6v but fixed it buy increasing the voltage. Unfortunately at 10x100, increasing to 1.85 doesn't help. I'm thinking it might be the video card that is limiting me from hitting the 1ghz mark.

don't bother, it's cheaper to get a fleabay a full tower case and a couple of 120mm case fans, total will be ~$100 and it'll provide better cooling.
