Pointclick is only a bonus, and in itself does not make this a hot deal. Final cost of $70 each, shipped, has nothing to do with pointclick. So far, looks like everyone is getting 900mhz to 950mhz using the stock fan with these units from buy.com. That is the Hot deal, as the new versions have been changed by removing pins, and you will no longer be able to get these highly overclockable units.

Just got my 2 today. Out of the Miami warehouse, they are week 29, which is great. Boxed units, with heatsink, fan, and 3 year warranty. All pins intact. Just need to close the L1 bridges and done.

Onvia.com is selling the chip for $82 and change w/ free shipping and no sale tax outside of Washington state. Also, 10% rebate through Pointclick (oh, well). If everything works out, comes to a little over $74.

I ordered on Sunday, and I still haven't gotten a shipping email from Buy.com. Anyone else in the same situation? I checked on their site, and the Duron's are still in stock. Wonder whats taking so long.

I haven't received my shipment comfirmation either (ordered late sunday night/early monday morning). Most likely it's because of the holiday weekend. The stock status online probably changes when the last item leaves the warehouse, but perhaps someone here knows if thats true.

I ordered 2 on Sunday night - I called buy.com this afternoon and they said it has shipped today!

So, most likely, your orders have shipped - it's just not updated yet in their systems. I've received emails before from them saying that an item shipped after I've already received it!
Buy.com is awesome though - I've bought a ton of sh!t from them with very few problems!

I usually get my buy.com orders delivered within 2 days of placing the order. And hear this-I ALWAYS,I repeat ALWAYS get my "Your Order Has Shipped" E mail after UPS delivers it to me.Have No Fear. Now how far do you think we can overclock these with the stock heatsink/Fan?What aftermarket HS/F are you gonna go with?

I'm going to push it to the limit with the fan it comes with. I've heard of some who have gotten 900MHz out of them with the standard fan. I'd be thrilled with 800MHz. My current setup is a Celeron 433 and I'm miserable!

There is also a "chrome" orb fan (like the golden orb, but better):
Here's a link: http://www.inflowdirect.com/therairk7dur.html

I also got info from someone that is running it in an ABIT KT7 board at 1 GHtz - been running stable for 2 wks. If using this board (which I plan on using) make sure to upgrade to the latest bios.

This is the way I'm goin' - gotta hit 1GHtz!!!

UPDATE!!
STRIKE THAT . . .
Here's a note at the bottom of that link:

Note: May not fit on the Abit KT7 for that go with the Globalwin FOP32 or the Alpha Pal6035.

You can't use this fan for the ABIT KT7 - so, just do what
abracadabra1 says! Go with the Glabalwin FOP32 Fan!

Damn . . . and the chrome orb looks so cool!!

Actually, if you were to check on www.pricewatch.com, you can find the Duron 600 for 58 bucks plus $10.75 shipping and no tax (unless you're from North Carolina). That equals to $68.75. On the other hand, if you were to buy 2 of them from Buy.com with that 30 dollar off coupon, the total, with tax and shipping, would be $151.90. Divide that by 2 and that means you're paying $75.95 for each chip. That translates into spending $7.20 more if you were to buy it at Buy.com even with that 30 dollar off coupon.

I just checked on my order. It has not shipped yet, but she told me it is in stock. I ordered Sunday morning. I guess it depends on where you live. There are several warehouses and some maybe more busy than others. So some could ship it out today and some could not. Buy.com is good so hopefully it will go out from a close place tomorrow. I want it by this weekend. My motherboard, ram, and heatsink/fan have already shipped from different places.

only reason we're buying from buy.com is because their stock seems to o/c extremely well. even though most durons, or all durons for that matter, are very good overclockers, the buy.com durons seem to have slightly better potential plus they come retail.
the buy.com durons seem to be hitting 950 rather consistantly and that makes for a sweet setup and that's about 100Mhz faster than most other durons (according to overclockers.com database). so that's why we're paying slightly more, or at least why i am.

Duron 600 for 58 bucks? I think that's the OEM version. Were getting the retail box version from Buy.com =]. I bought 1 and hopefully I will get as much as I had with my 900mhz. =]

Lets just hope they don't have the pins removed. I personally think they will not . I have seen no reports of anyone in the US getting a duron cpu with the pins removed. The one I heard of was in some place like Hong Kong. Of course isnt that the worst place for selling remarked things and copies? Maybe it is just that area?

Regarding finding a better deal on pricewatch...

I looked around pricewatch and the best I saw was $59 + $10-12 shipping, bare OEM chip with a 15 day DOA warranty, from a vendor I had never heard of, and that shipping is most likely UPS ground. total ~$70.

At buy.com it's ~$82 x 2, - $30 + $7 S&H (UPS Ground) total ~$140/2= ~$70. But it's retail, so you get the heatsink/fan, and the warranty you will be voiding by o/c will be the full warranty.

I checked out pricewatch to see if I could find a better deal on a retail duron 600 and get buy.com to pricematch, but everything below $80 was OEM or a must mention pricewatch situation.

And now my question.....

I'm going to be o/c my duron and am now trying to decide between Asus and Abit, but the second chip is for my brother and he will not be o/c his. Does anyone have a recommendation for a cheap socket A board?
Onboard video not needed but a plus, sound not needed or wanted (unless I can convince him to give me his SB live ).

Huge difference between OEM and Retail Boxed. Some etailers even offer 2 different OEM versions on there sites. One with a 30 day warranty, and another with a 90 day warranty. ALL Retail Boxed units have a 3 year warranty, and include the heatsink and fan. With something that you will be stressing out, you would have to be a fool to get the OEM version for $7.00 less, when it doesn't even include a fan, and virtually no warranty. Also makes you wonder how there can be a difference between the 30 day and 90 day OEM versions???

How would you rate these companies? Buy.com charges $5.70 to ship 2 CPU's. This $58.88 discounter will actually try to charge the "Special" price of $73.00 + $10.75 shipping, for his OEM unless you convince them of the pricewatch ad. Their fine print states: ""OEM Processors purchased individually come with 30 days warranty ""
