Braxus - Good call! I forgot all about this! This is very important! Another guy that was running his at 1 Ghz. told me to make sure to update the bios to the latest.

Tedtalker1 - Yes, that does seem a little warm. I'm hoping for 40degC or less.
I want to get it as low as possible, cuz I'm going for 1 Ghz.!

Only prob is I won't have the KT7-RAID, Alpha PAL6035 HS/FAN, Arctic Silver thermal compound til end of next week!

I almost forgot. Where are you guys putting the thermal paste? Do you cover the entire underside of the heatsink or what?

paste is only put on the core of the cpu (the small silver square).
btw my case temp is 71 and cpu temp is 77 (damn she's cool!). i just added 3 80mm fans to the side of my case, 2 blowing in 1 blowing out.

*sigh* bumped the clock up to 9 and restarted and she didn't boot
turns on, but still not posting...i guess i'll just have to wait a while again.

The 700 mHz Durons are just as overclockable correct? I would assume even more so, up to @ 1050 Mhz?

i don't this so...someone correct me if i'm wrong which i might be, but the 700 has the same core as the 600 (right?), so the only difference is the multiplier setting which we all know can be easily changed using one of the unlocking methods posted previously. So, the 700's and 600's should overclock the same.

is that right?

hmm lots of wierd stuff going on w/ my comp. so she finally boots up at default, i load the os, it goes through a bunch of installations for the newly found devices of the mobo, fine. i shutdown my comp and install the sound card and lan card, connect the extra usb device that came w/ the mobo reconnect all my fans and boot it up again, no post.
so...i guess either the sound card or lan card is doing this (doubt it). possibly the extra fans and too much power consumption? (nope...)
cpu is shorting itself?? (maybe, but wouldn't it have been fried by now...)
any ideas??

i take out the sound card...turn on power and she boots...wierd
why would this happen?

Have you checked the irqs? I had a problem a while back when i first got cable because the network card was on the same irq as the riva tnt agp card. See if you are sharing irqs with anything. Try the soundcard in a different slot or exchange its slot with another pci device that does not use an irq.

Just forget about it. I will just refuse the order and send them back. I was just trying to help out a few people that only wanted one instead of having to buy two to get the deal.

oh my lord! gotta love the durons!
i got my chip to post into winme at 1.85V at 950 (boy was she fast).
then i got an error from the a startup program and the kernel32. i'm going to keep trying and see what i can run her stable at...
i think a problem might be that the power strip that this comp is on is overloaded...

You should be able to run 950 at 1.75. If you are getting Windows errors it is instability. I turned my down to 900 the first sign of any instability and haven't had any problems.

Since I have received a few e-mails on selling the 4 Buy.com 600 MHz Durons (The same ones talked about in this thread) that I ordered, and changed my mind on, I will try this again.

It was too late to cancel the order, (2nd day air, left the warehouse today) and I can either refuse it and send them back when they arrive, or I could sell them. I originally thought that $75.00 shipped would cover them, but it breaks down like this:

I paid $327.80 for 4 of them ($81.95 x 4)

I received the $30.00 off $150.00 coupon which brought them down to $297.80 ($327.80 - $30.00)

That comes out to $74.45 for each Duron.

Add in $3.55 for Priority Mail Delivery Confirmation shipping to whoever buys one comes to:

$78.00 shipped, which still is a good deal. You are still saving close to $10.00 compared to buying one from Buy.com, and paying their shipping charges if you ordered just 1.

I would want to be paid now via PayPal for them, so I know for sure that they are sold, and do not have to wait for money orders. I will ship them UNOPENED just as they come, as soon as they arrive to me (Monday or Tuesday)

Ok, folks, here's my current setup.

Abit KT7-RAID
Duron 600, stock heatsink and fan.

I was getting weird errors in Windows 2000 at 900 (1.75v), and was having problems where the machine would occasionally not post. Not all the time, mind you, but frequent enough where it was causing a little heartache.

But the oddest thing is that my USB mouse and keyboard would occasionally stop working, but the system would still respond. I know this, because I switched back to the PS/2 keyboard, and when the mouse would stop responding, the keyboard still worked.

Anyway, there is a note in the KT7-RAID manual about PCI slot 5, and that it shares resources with the HotRod100 controller. This was my SBLive in that slot, so I moved it to Slot 6. I also moved my Network card to Slot 4 from 3 ... since my freezes tended to happen when accessing the Internet.

I'm also back at 600 for right now, while I get stuff installed. I'll give another progress report later. But I would like to say that for the most part, 900MHz worked!!!

Bohemian,Did you flash to the new KT7 BIOS yet? If so,please give us your thoughts on the process and improvements.I have flashed BIOS 3 different times and only one was successful.Needless to say I am plenty nervous about doing it again.

SPROG123,I spent a few bucks more and got my KT7 for $139 from www.essencom.com because they ship FEDEX 2 day on this motherboard for the price of UPS ground.Got it friday along with my Durons from buy.com.
