I ordered mine monday (9-11), and it showed that it checked out from FL on its way to Ohio today. I will let you guys know if it's locked. If it is, I will return it. To see if it's locked or now, do I need to break anything permanently?
I read all the posts in the thread that I have a few things I don't quite understand what you guys were talking about.

From what I gathered, I would have better luck with week 29 than week 31. The number AKBA0029.. is the indicator of week 29. What does week really mean here? It's a time indicator that it was produced in 29th week when this chip was first produced?
Can any kind soul who has it done sucessfully posts a step-by-step for someone like me to follow? I will start by what I gathered from the thread:
Things you need:
1) AMD Duron 600mhz
2) ABIT KT7 Socket-A Athlon/Duron Motherboard
3) A 2B pencil, conductive pens, or defogger repair paint (any success report on option 3?)
4) globalwin fan or Alpha Pal6035 (if you want to go over 900mhz, second one is better??) Is there a link or review to these 2 devices?
5) boot disk with new flash file (KT7_ul.bin)
Steps
1) After receiving the CPU, check a. if it's week 29, b. if it's unlocked like the
Image here. If this is no missing pins, then it's fine.
2) Unlock the multiplier from the front of the chip by following instructions at
Unlocking1 or
Unlocking2.
3) Flash BIOS of motherboard (direct copy from posts):
1. Make a bootable floopy (format a: /s in DOS).
2. Copy the the flash program to the disk (awdflash.exe).
3. Copy the flash file to the disk (KT7_ul.bin).
4. Boot to the floppy.
5. Type awdflash.exe.
Here is my question: do you do this before you install Windows? You need the CPU to do this, right? I will probably prepare the disk before swapping the motherboard with my current machine.
4) Assemble the components, adding all the cooling stuff (?)
5) Boot with DOS and use Softmenu and set the right setting. Mayb start with 600mhz
(Any special settings I should change besides the multiplier, FBS?? Can you post your setting?)
6) Install Windows
7) Reboot to try higher speed.
Do I miss any important steps or would do something wrong in certain steps????
Thanks,
CLiu
