What are you talking about? This camera was just introduced. Maybe you're confusing it with D-30.

Anyways, this is a pretty good price if the retailer checks out and it is in fact US version of the camera.

Looking at review sites though, I would suggest anyone looking at buying this camera also look at the Fuji S2. Same resolution, but higher quality pics.

There is a lot of talk of the Canon D-60 being discontinued - some from dealers, some from Canon foreign subs.

Wonderful camera...I have a D30 and wouldn't trade it for anything but a D60.

Canon has never announced anything too early as we (end users) would like it to be.
All of this are rumors, but some of them are form very reputable sources that did work in the past.

would suggest anyone looking at buying this camera also look at the Fuji S2

D-60 is one of the few digital camera that you can buy it, used it for a couple months and still sell it above retailed price at EBay.

After the firmware upgrade 2-3 months ago, it fixes almost all of the problems people reported. The only thing left is the slow low light auto focus. However, the low light auto focus problem is very common among all the cameras around that price range.

Most cameras including the Canon D60 focus using optimum scene contrast or some such thing. No IR or ultrasonics are used.

I bought a D30 at a good price shortly before the D60 came out. I kept it for a week and then sold it on Ebay. I preferred the pictures and the compact size of my CP950.

I did a google search on D80 and somoneposted on one forum that "After repeated news reports that the D60 has been discontinued, we've gotten reports from reliable sources that Canon will be introducing a 4MP D40 and 8MP D80, both of which will be shown at PMA. The D40 is expected to sell for $1400 with the D80 at $1800. This represents yet another price performance milestone in the low-end of the D-SLR market. We'll have more details once they are forthcoming.

I got my D60 last year around the april timeframe. Sold it in December with anticipation of a new EOS-1D from PMA. I'm awaiting with baited breath!
