FINALLY! I've been waiting for a deal like this for awhile. Get the Canon i960 photo printer for $129 from Staples after mail-in rebates.

1. Find the lowest online price for the i960. I found this at Broadway Photo for $159 after searching a dozen price bot websites.
2. Print the website's page and take to your local Staples. They will match printed web prices excluding warehouse stores (Sam's, Costco, etc.). Other stores may do this, but I only know of Staples.
3. Buy the Canon i960 for $159 plus tax.
4. Print the mail-in rebate form from CompUSA, DigitalDeals.net, or Amazon.com.
5. Enjoy your printer for only $129!

The rebate expires on 7-17. Between now and then, I'm sure the i960 will go cheaper locally or online, but I've needed a printer for a month, so I'm buying now.

Tell you friends about this deal!

Um... two problems.

First is that Staples does not match online prices. It's in their policy. So it's a YMMV.

Secondly, the rebates from Compusa, Amazon, etc. requires that the product be purchased from them ONLY. So it's a big YMMV if you're expecting to get a Compusa or Amazon rebate using a Staples purchase.

Good luck

Edit.......

Actually, Staples (Canon?) is also offerring a $30 rebate on the Canon i960 printer, so you don't have to use the Compusa or Amazon ones.

And if you can get Staples to do a price match, you might as well try to get them to accept a $30 off $150 coupon too. Hey, it doesn't hurt to try.

So if you can pull this off, it's a very good deal.

Look at the rebate form from DigitalDeals.net. It simply says "Purchase a Canon i960 printer." It doesn't specify where.

I called Staples and they confirmed they will pricematch online prices so long as (1) it's current, (2) it's printed and can be accessed, and (3) it's not a warehouse or club website.

I'm going out right now to do this.

Funny, I work at Staples and we haven't accepted internet pricematches since Feb. of last year. Just a heads up! If you can get the deal to work, kudos to your brilliance!

GRRR. Staples didn't do it. (I'm now imagining all of you saying, "I told you so!")

HOWEVER!

Because the rebate is not store specific, there is nothing preventing one from finding the lowest internet price and using the rebate on it. I'm looking for that lowest overall price right now. I'll post when I find one. (Lowest thus far is ~$175 shipped.)

Because Broadway Photo charges too much for shipping.

I'll check tomorrow or Tuesday if Amazon or some other free-shipping place will match Broadway Photo's price.

If you have a Microcenter, you can just get there. They currently have it for $129.99 AR in store. You can order it through the website as well, but I think they charge shipping. Microcenter is currently running 20% off digital photography, which includes the i960.

I've called 2 Staples and they would not pricematch items printed from the net. It must be from a weekly circular from a B&M store. The item I wanted to pricematch was Costco's Sandisk 512mb CF, so I printed it out from costco.com and went to 2 different Stapes in Central NJ. Both would not pricematch it.

The $30 rebate from Canon says from authorized Canon dealers. How can we find out if broadway photo is an authorized dealer?

It (also) comes w/ a $30 rebate

It's $134 (free FedEx) at the Egg

$134 - $30 MIR - $104

I have the i850 right now (previous model) and love it. To me, the i860 is even better with photos. That's the reason I got the i850 in the first place. It's mainly a photo printer.

The i860 is also quieter and appears to be a little faster than the i850 too.

If you're looking for a photo printer, then nothing out there can beat the i960. The i860 comes close though, but the i960 is still tops. On the other hand, if all you're looking for is a good all around printer (a little bit of text printing, a little bit of color, and a few photos here and there) then I think you'll be very happy with the i860, especially at Newegg's price and after the rebate.

Other notes:

The i860 is a 5 tank color printer [Black (dye-based for photos), Black (pigment-based for text), Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow (all dye-based)]

The i960 is a 6 tank color printer [Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, light Cyan, and light Magenta (all dye-based)]

The i960 is faster than the i860.

Since the i860 has a pigment-based black tank, it's got slightly better/sharper/crisper text printing than the i960 (and my i850).

Hope this info helps.

Yes it did . . . i ORDERED.

I860 looks to be a great all-round printer - not as dedicated to photos as the i960 - but still very good and much more exceptional text than the i560.

Here's a current printer discussion in General Hardware that was helpful to me.

(?)

(!)

if you have a local microcenter you can even do a little better:

i860: $150 - 20% off sale = $120 - $30 mir = $90!!!

i960: $200 - 20% off sale = $160 - $30 mir = $130!!!

personally i'm going for the i860, $40 less and i need to do a fair amount of text printer. and the i960 is only faster on photos - the i860 screams on text.

OH OH! Even better!

Use the $20-off coupon from Office Depot's e-mail, get them to pricematch Microcenter's $159.99 (after 20% discount) and get the printer for $99!
