HOT? Cendyne DVD-R/RW Drive for $200 at Office Max

Does anyone know how much the upcoming Sony +/- R/RW combo will be?

Look at Meritline for some decent prices on media. They offer a sampler pack so that you can try different media and see how they work on your set-top DVD players or Xboxes or what have you.

4.7GBs of data on 1 disc compared to 7.x CDRs ...hmmm...7.x CDRs average burn time/rate of 32x(and up..) approx. 4min( yea..some faster some slower just a generalization here..) per = about 30 minutes or so..

The biggest decision is weater to get this now, or wait for the Sony DVD +/- R/RW drive due out in October.

It was already removed from the online officemax.com, now you have to buy @ store with 299.99 - 50 (MIR) = 249.99 + TAX.

It was to late for me, I almost order it on Sunday, but need time to think about it. Now it is differcult ot use online coupon 50 of 250...

Why would they pull it from the site? That doesn't make any sense. It's not like it was a price mistake. Oh well, after seeing that the Sony combo drive will only be $350, I'm just going to wait for that.

whoa just checked that sony link. Definetely waiting for that drive before I buy another pioneer (got an a03 right now). Hopefully it will come out in early october. I mean 4X dvd-r is nice enough but dvd+r/+rw support is what I'm looking for. Cheap 2X dvd's are about 1.50 right now and they work great in my xbox (which is pretty much all I use them for aside from storage). 30minutes for ~ 4.3 gigs isn't bad but if we could cut that down to 15 its worth it.

All those buying this drive may want to wait a month and save up another $150 for the sony drive which burns dvd-r @ 4x, dvd-rw @ 2x, dvd+r/+rw @ 2.4x. I think the extra speed is worth the money alone and the +r/+rw compatibility just makes the drive even more affordable.

They did the same like Canon Powershot A40, you could not find it on the their website niether.
I think they don't want people like us buy it with the online coupon which make the price lower than special price......


I think I should wait for the Sony drive...

I'm having second thoughts after ordering cendyne 2x on Sunday. $350 sony drive can possibly had for less than $300 after coupons in Dell / OD etc. in a couple of months.

I wonder how Sony will do 4x dvd-r. Pioneer needs particular branded 2x blanks. Will there be specific 4x blanks ? If so, those won't be cheap (to start with).
