Beef Jerky is my business and I just thought I'd throw this in. The label looks oriental and in most of the Asian Countries, Red means bad meat or pet quality meat. I'm betting these guys put these bags together as a sample for an asian market and then found this out or just used them as a test production run. I'm sure there is nothing wrong witht he meat but they are probably just clearing it out before it goes bad. I've seen this same thing many times with several beef jerky companies. Enjoy this deal, its a good price and it looks like a good product.

Oh, and if you want to know what company I'm with, e-mail me, we've got some good prices. I won't plug here because shameless adds will detract from the point I'm making.

I'm not sure I understand correctly... the color of a company's label is an indication of quality?? you do realize red is probably one of the most favored colors in Chinese culture...

Tricho, those are pretty uninformed statements you're making there. It's a cross between hilarious and offensive. I think you pretty much discredited yourself as an expert on Asian products when you said they "look Oriental."

Red is the color of good luck in Chinese culture. If you've ever been to a Chinese shop that sells Chinese-style beef jerky, there's plenty of red-packed products.

As a Chinese, I want to point out that RED MEANS GOOD in China.

Here's my opinion on this stuff. I bought 3 packages of it. I guess my tastes tend towards the jerky you can buy in wal-mart and what not.

I can definately tell the meat they used is high quality. Why? I pulled out a big piece of the 1 pound of super hot that I have and its shaped like a freakin' t-bone steak. When I first opened the packages the smell reminded me a lot like the smell of the jerky chews you give to dogs. The taste isn't really that flavorful to me either. I guess I was expecting a smokier taste like I'm used to after years of non-chinese style jerky. Super hot.. isn't that super hot heh.

Overall, not too impressed. I still eat some of it every so often, but I can easily stop. Unlike some of the other I've had.

Not trying to thread crap. Just stating my opinion based on my tastes and a warning to people who may share them.

Yup...I agree: This stuff isn't for everyone, and it ISN'T for me. Someone at work bought some of this and brought it in...Not the worst tasting stuff I've ever eaten, and as someone else mentioned, the quality of the meat used seemed to be good. But I don't much care for the taste.

Give me that stuff that Costco sells for $10 per pound ANY DAY. And the Chinese beef jerky should be labeled as "hot" not HOT, as in, I suppose someone must think it's hot, but not me. I prefer the peppered stuff at Costco. Not horribly hot, either, but more bite.

But in relation to the deal, nice deal!

MSG may not be harmful, but the msg used as a food additive has been synthesized from a particular protein. All allergies are protein based. While natural msg may be fine, there is a definite connection to synthesized MSG and allergic reactions to it. I actually know a few people who are allergic to it.

chinese "hot" tends not to be that hot... so far, i think korean beats out both mexican and indian in terms of "hotness" of some of their foods...

Price changed a bit, but still a hot deal. They are also giving chinese tea packs for $30 orders. I'm in for 2 pounds.

Shipping kills the deal, to bad cause the 25% coupon code mentioned in the first post of this topic is working.

This is a great deal for people who live in the LA area, they can pick up their orders:

If you live in the LA area and would like to pick up your order in person, please select the will-call option and we will arrange a time for your pickup.

I ordered some a few weeks back. While the flavor is not bad, it's a bit salty and the meat is too chewy. I don't have great teeth but it was the same reaction from others that tried it. Just my $.02. Overall, a decent deal.

Hmm... I don't think I was charged shipping. Yay. I remember the first time I tried to order, the $8 shipping nullified the $8 discount. But this time, I only got the $8 discount. Two pounds for just under $24.

Just ordered 2 pounds of Fortune Jerky, USE "FEEDMEJERKY", still works. Total was 30.74 shipped for me. Not bad. About a buck cheaper than original price.
