Went to 3 CompUSA's today in Atlanta. The first two didn't have much to begin with, but had mostly been cleaned out. Got to the third one just in time. They were clearing the shelves of the items so they could be thrown away! I told them I would buy them, as I heard they were scanning for a penny. I clean out there carts, about 20 books I want in all, and complete my check out, but all of a sudden a manager comes over and voids it as I'm getting ready to walk out the door. I went in to his office and showed him on the website how they were on sale for $.88, and it took some persuading, but I finally talked him into selling them to me for that price. It was too bad though. I plopped down a quarter the first time to pay for all those books and the cashier just stared at me

For anyone who is in the Atlanta area, that third one was the one at SouthLake, and they still have most of everything there.

I think the CompUSAs in SoCal are no longer honoring the prices of the books, especially if it rings up as .01. That's what the clerk told me when I went to the one in Culver City.

I went to the Overland Park, KS store over lunch today but didn't see anything. There was a small rack of stuff marked down to $15-$20. Were those they and would they actually ring up at $.01 or $.88 or whatever?

Or were they already gone and I missed them or did that store just not have any?

I did manage to snag two books off the website last night and I did get the email confirmation. So at least I got some part of the deal.

Just got back from the Burbank store. I asked about the 0.88 cent books and the clerk said they were pulled that morning. I didn't bother to hunt down the titles and do a scan check. Just took her word for it. Might go check Canoga Park later, but probably won't have enough time.

If someone ordered them online, can you PLZ pm me regarding an order...I need a big favor.... my bro went to buy a few of the books, and they said they wouldnt sell em for those prices...but if someone can call up compusa headquarters, and confirm they are getting the order, and then give me a name and etention number, i will have that person fax me a note signed by him saying that they are sending out those orders, and that because of the price garuntee compusa has, they must sell it to him...thank you

12 books, all different, 12 cents. Thanks GetReal. Clerk copied off my receipt so he could show he didn't manually price adjust. (He said.) I think he copied it so he could go back and snap some up for himself.

No luck on my side! This afternoon I went to the ImCompUSA store, located in Bridgeton, MO. No books for eighty-eight cents. I even got the head cashier, Kathy, to look on the company website. In time, she let me get on her computer to search for the deal. I showed this post, click the link from the initial post, and saw that someone had done a major delete. I even jokingly told Kathy that some people had went into stores and got books for a penny each.

The person, Kathy, informed me that the stocking and pulling of books at the store is done by the vendors. Can anyone provide info?

Flomokev and anyone in the STL area, I raided the one in Maryland Heights on Dorsett. The cashier was didnt know what to do when it ranged for only a penny. I just told him it was on clearenced, he smiled and said "No Sh*t!?!". Got 10 books, a couple of duplicates for coworkers and family. There were some that did rang up at regular price, probably cuz they were new editions. When I put up the big A+ Prep and Cram book, he was in doubt if it would be for a penny. Bling bling...$0.01. His faced dropped, finished ringing me up and wrote down the stuff I bought. He was cool, so I gave him the list I had. There were a few more books left at lunch. One of the A+ cram and prep and PERL training. It might not be anymore, the cashier was pretty diehard to take a break immediately after I left.

%!@#ing CrapUSA this is the only damn computer store in Baton Rouge and they succeed in f***ing me again when a hot deal shows up in their store--- i went this afternoon and only found the MCSE Windows 2000 Core Four Exam Cram Pack shelf ...well i brought it up to the counter and asked the cashier to ring it up to check the price ...it rang up for a penny and she acted suprised but i said that sounds great to me so i gave her a penny...well before i could grab my sh!t and go, the manager walked by and the cashier casually mentioned the great deal i was getting on a book - After that he freaked out, grabbed the book and my receipt and told me that the book shouldnt have been on the shelf and told me i had to pay the face value price of $120 if i wanted to by the book - i told him that it was their screw up and asked what he was going to do about it ...he handed me a penny...:|:|:| ..*%*$#*&*#*&*@!!!
