HOT! compusa has pioneer mini system for $50!

I went there last Sunday, and saw they have this mini stereo system for 50 bucks! it is even cheaper than the clunky clock radio that sits next to it!

I played with it for a while and it seems it is a very decent system for this price, it is white, and even has a remote, perfect for bed side system.

Is this system any good? It looks kind of chintzy from the photo. Does anyone have personal experience with this stereo? I just saw this model at Amazon.com for $199!?! According to me caveman math: $59=GOOD. $199=BAD.

It looks like an extended alarm clock. I remember pioneer made a smooth looking cd player a year ago...it would be nice if it were that one on sale. It was still $150+ last I checked

I'd rather shell out an extra $50 to get something that looks a little more descent then this 3 box set from Pioneer

I think this is a discontinued product. I found a few old links, but most of them were no longer active. The system can be seen on Pioneer's site, under the 'Archived Products' heading.

From what I've seen, it originally listed at $270 and most places priced it around $200. I found it at one other place starting at $99. Sound like a possible hot deal, if you don't mind getting a older/discontinued model. While you might find it at your local CompUSA, CompUSA.com is backordered.

trust me, i wouldn't let this deal pass by. The system has a $200 look and feel to me, the white is sortta translucent...iMac style.

I just ran up to CompUkeSA to check this out.

To me, it looks and sounds cheap.

Only one EQ setting sounds bearable - the one they call "deep" - but even that sounds shallow and small.

If you like the styling, maybe it would be worth $59, but it doesn't look like it's worth one penny more than that to me. I just passed on it. Your mileage may vary.

I fiddled with one for about half an hour yesterday. Here are my thoughts:

Features-wise this unit gets a 8/10..very cool

Sound Quality wise, i would say average (decent) maybe a 6.5 or close to 7/10
Not as impressive, but its trendy-fashionable gear just like an Imac.

As an audio enthusiast, I would conclude that this unit is perfect for a bedside radio/CD player.
