this is hot for dungeness crab. I usually boiled them in beer and dip them in lemon and salt&pepper... and I thought the yellow stuff is crab's sh#t but now I know it's the brains.

SF Bay is a breeding ground for Dungeness so no matter what size you catch, you gotta throw them back. My friends and I went crabbing by the Golden Gate Bridge a few weeks back and we kept catching these huge Dungenesses. It was torture throwing them back!

Cleaning blue or dungenous crabs....

Get a scrubber. All you need to do is scrub em down. you hold them from the back and upside down and open their lil poop chute and scrub there too. it seems like it tickles them but i think they aren't too happy about that anal rapage. And then that's about it. steam or boil.

Blue crabs are sweeter than dungenous. I'll have to check out 99 ranch i suppose and see what sort of deals are about. Every year for christmas I cook up a lobster and a crab for each member of my family. Good eats.
