HOT - Creative Labs Factory Refurb Speaker Sale

Creative Labs is selling Factory refurb speaker systems. The best deal seems to be the Cambridge Soundworks DTT2200 DolbyDigital 5.1 system for $59.95 + tax + shipping. Regular price on these is(was) $130.00. The set has 5 speakers (2front, 2rear, 1center) subwoofer, remote control. I just got mine today and hooked them up and they are AWESOME !!

I am thinking about refurb dtt2200 ($60 + $20 shipping) vs CREATIVE INSPIRE 5.1 5300 ($81 + $15 shipping @newegg). I don't mind spending extra $15 for a new INSPIRE 5.1. But I don't know which one is better... dtt2200, an older model with a higher suggested retail price vs INSPIRE 5.1, a newer model with lower suggested retail price.

One other info, Both models do NOT support true digital output. By that, I mean you will have have to hook up through 3 analog wires - front, back and subwoofer+center wires. It would not support digital optical or coaxel or minijack input. Therefore you need to have a sound card that support this feature (i.e sound blaster 5.1 or audigy).


Anyways, I would appreciate if anyone can help me choose between these two set of speakers. If you own either one of these, please post a comment about your experience with the speaker.

Man, don't they make ahigher end speaker set in white anymore? The only white I see here are the 1500's.

pastorjay,no offense but you can get red devil in a spray can that works well on plastic,so that would do the trick with the possible exception of the grilles.

I bought a FPS 2000 set a year ago? that was the display at WalMart. I got them for $40.00, but I had to buy the corded volume control for $10 = $50. Didn't have the digital hookup cable, but I passed on that for another $10. The reviews for the FPS 1800 and FPS 2000 are good. Reviewers said couldn't hear the difference between digital or analog output of FPS 2000. FPS 1800 are analog only, so really the same as FPS 2000 running analog. Info on refurbished says may be missing some items, hmmm... could be a problem, without the corded volume control, you can't turn them on.

Good post, I tried dummy name, etc, to see what shipping would be. It took a long time to get to the next page, and when it did, it said "how do you want it shipped?" and the shipping address was a comma. I clicked the "edit" button to at least put in the right state and zipcode, and it listed some addesses and said chose one the addresses in your address book! (none of the address were from my address book, but wtf?) Goofy ordering process IMO, they will give you a password at the end of the ordering ordeal? When you get an error, and try to get back in, it says sorry that email (mine) is taken. But I got no password for it. I would use the 800 number to order to avoid that address book crap.
Edit:I got that sorry cant show you that page or something like that the first time, tried the link again and saw the page with the speakers. I would call, maybe just a hammered website.

I've got one sitting in my cart from yesterday...but I can't decide whether to upgrade to 5.1 or keep the Creative Slim500 I got from OUTPOST. The Slim500s (Cambridge Soundworks) sound very nice. Are the DTT2200s just as good?

Also, the specs say there are no s/pdif or digital din (digital coaxial?) connectors on the system...how are you supposed to connect your SB 5.1 card to it? Anyone have this and have it hooked up to a SB 5.1 live?
