Check www.crucial.com for latest price on your memory. Mine dropped over 33% !! Last week the 256mb PC266 DDR SODIMM for my Toshiba Satellite laptop was $78.99. Today, I ordered it for $49.99, FREE FedEx 2day shipping (plus tax)!!! There is a coupon code for an additional 5%. If you search a different Techbargains site (uh, maybe add a .com) for "crucial" you might see it.

I would wait at least another 2-4 weeks before I bougth any more ram. Prices will keep going down for at least another month or so.

I'ld agree with one exception - buy memory with rebates at Best Buy and Cirucuit City (which have 30-day pricematch policies)....

Crucial usually is the leader when memory prices drop. I'm not saying their prices won't drop more, but I wouldn't be surprised if THIS is their BIG drop, not 2 weeks from now like everyone else. Crucial sell 95% online, and they always try to be first.

512 meg of DDR PC2100 dropped about 10 bucks. Another 5% and you should be able to pick up a stick for $85.50. Not too bad.

Beats Newegg by 4 bucks.

Damn i remember when i built by first rig in October 2001, I got 2 sticks of crucial PC 2100 for like 60 something shipped (without any rebates). If I remember correctly Crucial did not sell 512 Mb PC 2100 dimms untill november of that year and I figured that they would be cheaper than $80 if i wait a few months. And now about a year and a half later we are finally seeing RAM prices come down to those levels.

googlegear has Crucial 512MB DDR266 PC2100 for $81. When I check the sku at Crucial it's $90 there. But when I look up memory for a Dell 4550 I get another sku. The price and specs are the same, so I can't figure out why they have two sku's.

Bump for a good deal. My Crucial pc2100 does 170MHz at stock voltages on my A7N8X Deluxe. Might do higher, but I think my 1800+ might be flaky (bought it when it first came out).

OC like hell = Corsair....

If you want to just OC, it might be worth a try.

Check out Kingston memory too. Their prices are as good without coupons and without sales tax (in some states). They have free shipping and their memory is top class.

If I enter a Dell 4550 at the Kngston site I get a price of $162 for 512MB DDR266 compared to $90 at Crucial.

Really? Comes up as $89.99 for me. Do a search for CT256126 .

A few days ago I ordered up a standard piece of 256MB DDR266 SODIMM from Kingston for $48 delivered. The Crucial price was over $50, even with the 5% coupon.

I have no problem with generic, cheap and just as reliable without the high price tag.

If this is their big drop, then it isnt much of a drop at all

Last time the prices dropped, I bought (2) 256MB PC2100 DDR for about $60. I'll wait until it gets down that low again.
