The first, third and the last one have CL=2.5 and the second has CL=2. Does this mean the second one has better oc capability or what's the difference and which one to pick from? All three brands are good brands to me.

lower CAS/CL rating means it can run at standard speed at faster timings. When you OC, you can relax the timings and it will supposedly go higher... i'd go for better (lower) CAS/CL ratings...

With memory prices dropping.... what would be a good price to start buying more before it goes back up again? I mean, how low can it go? I'm sure it wont be like 1.5 yrs ago when 256 MB PC2100 from Crucial only cost $27 shipped with 8.25% tax.

Unless you absolutely need RAM right now, don't jump as long as prices continue to head down. While prices might not reach the lows of the glory days of 256MB sticks for $25, they've shown no signs that they're about to stop falling. Buy when they level off, not now.

About 12-18 months ago was when companies started dumping memory. Anyone remember the woes of Hunday and Samsung that brought down the Korean economy and the memory market with it?

I believe that RAM prices will drop, but I don't believe they will hit record lows again anytime soon. I am about to buy some memory, but I am also thinking about upgrading my MB, so I will wait with the memory till I have decided on the MB. No use to get 512MB or 1GB of PC2100 now and then get a board that takes PC2700 or PC3200.

That is of course just my 2cents.

You can also look at it this way: when the first 486-33 computers came out they were outrageously expensive, well... how much are they today? It is always a trade off between how much do you want to spend now and have the thing or how much do you want to say and have to wait to get it. In the long run prices in this industry have always come down, only problem is, after a while the products are obsolete.
