I know now I have been talking to a child and I guess I have brought myself down to your level by trying to prove I have a legal copy when it shouldn't really even matter. I had to run the test again to publish it so I got a new number, how does that prove anything? I guess maybe you've just bored and have been baiting me. I guess I was a bit bored also.

6658 isn't even that great. There are a couple of people on [H] who get over 7000 with a x800 XT PE (probably volt-modded): http://www.hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1027953890&postcount=2352 I'm not going to modify my card, so 570/600 is as good as it gets... at least until winter.

At least I didn't need to crack my copy and run it at a lower res to get a score over 6600, like waxy did.

ATI Tool crashes my card when I say "find max clock". Starts artifacting on the desktop. MAY be a voltage issue, but unlikely.

ATI Tray Tool for me is far more effective and useful... and doens't crash my card

not sure the exact frame rates, but i have it set to 1280x960 4AA, i think most on high, no lighting, no shadows. i think i turned down texure to medium because even on a lower resolution i was hitting the pagefile (but will put it back up to test again). i would say at no point do i go lower than 40fps, even in extreme action. there is absolutely no lag whatsoever. the next time i game i will turn on fraps and benchmark it and let you know. i have scored higher on the games on average since i have had this card.

according to this it looks like the x800xtpe ~ = 6600gt sli, 6800ultra & 6800gt o/c

waxking - what are you using for a display, 848x480 sounds like 480p non-hdtv lcd resolution

Using A Dwin TV3e Projector with a resolution of 1280 x 720(DLP). I think that is the reason I get the default odd resolution. I may try to run the program on my CRT on a different computer just to see if it gives me 1024 x 768.

do you game on that? if so, how do projectors do with gaming? bf2? do you have any room pics with it on with something for size reference? sounds like a pretty cool setup.

just our of curiosity everyboyd, what is your max memory usage now that you can game at these higher resolutions?

@ 1280x960 4AA most on high, except terrrain on med, no lighting, no shadowing i am hitting 1.4GB of ram :shocked:.

when the computer is idle, it usually sits around the 220MB-250MB.

i do not feel any lag whatsoever, but i am attributing that to my 10Krpm scsi system hdd that the game is on...

yep, under Commit Charge (K), it shows total, limit and peak. what is your peak?

here is mine with some adobe programs open, shows ~390MB being used, but you can see the peak was 1.4GB

Yes, I game on it. I haven't played BF2 but I have FarCry, Half-Life 2 and now I am playing Dungeon Seige 2. I use a gyration mouse & keyboard which is a little awkward for a fast paced game but ok. I have a Sharp Aquos 32" that I also game on. My projection screen is 92" wide and I do enjoy gaming on the big screen. If you are an avid hard core Counter Strike gamer, it would still look cool but you probably would have slower response with the wireless stuff.

With the Gyration I don't need a hard flat surface for the mouse and the keyboard is compact. I can be very comfortable in a chair or on the couch and still game. Some people hate the gyration stuff but for me it has worked great.

Received my refurb X800 XT PE card - tearing and artifacts at default speeds 520/560 (good case cooling and ample P/S). I can get them to clear up when I reduce the mem speed to 540. Looks like this refurb card is heading back for RMA.

I got my X800XTPE a couple of days ago. I switched from a 6800 Ultra. I was expecting improvements in everything but Doom 3. But I swear Doom 3 looks better. The frame rates are few slower but the actual video quality seems better. Even with the same AA, quality settings and resolution. Am I seeing things or is there an explanation for this.

Eh, no explanation, drivers mebbe. There really shouldn't be a huge improvement over a 6800U though in most games. So anyway, put the Ultra in a box, and ship it to me...

I have heard that on average the ATI cards have a little better image quality. I played BF2 on my friends pc,he has a 6800gt. It still looked nice but the colors were a little cartoony. I think my X800XT PE looks a little better.

question is - i haven't installed my beast card yet...still at my bro's . but, why is my limit so much lower than yours? i also have 1 GB of RAM. is it based on my vid card too? i got a geforce 5200 128mb.

with yours, did you hit that peak after a couple hours of gaming or was it right away sky high?

after another couple of games, my peak was 1.01GB, not sure why the one was 1.4GB, but 1.01 is still hitting the pagefile, just barely though

yea, I get the same error, it says CLI error or something like that. Anyone know what that is?

I get the same thing. the ati control panel won't work until you download something called .net Framework from the MS site. Well, that fixed the CLI problem but I get something called a "ower driver not found" popup message upon startup.

I will reload the drivers to see if that fixes the problem.

btw, the omega drivers also gave me the "new hardware detected" message upon startup so you are not alone.
