actually... according to the X800XT PE owners manual, it says under system requirements:

"300 watt or great power supply recommended for Radeon X800 Pro and 350 watt Radeon X800XT Platinum"

I'd go off of the owners manual.

Also will it be significantly faster than my 9800 pro?

I can answer that it will be faster than the 9800 pro. I am not sure on the $189 price point considering you can get faster ATI cards for a little bit more.

Anybody have the charges to their credit/debit card reversed?

I just checked my account and the $233.16 that was initially charged has been reversed, but when I do the Fedex trick, it still shows that its on its way w/ an ETA of tomorrow.

My X800 XT PE arrived this morning. Unlike some of the cards that some have been receiving, mine actually appears to be a refurb as it has a number hand-written on the PCB and the AGP connector shows slight wear under magnification. I haven't run any benchmarks yet, but I'm typing this message using it so at least I know it works in 2D

Edit: A little playing around with ATITool yielded a stable overclock to 570MHz/1.2GHz with the stock cooling. This card should be fast enough that I won't worry about overclocking or replacing the cooler. I'll just enable ATI Overdrive and call it good!

I'm going to try running it with the stock Dell PSU. From what people are saying, its actual rating is more along the lines of 345w rather than the "250w". If I run into any problems, then I'll replace it with just a standard Antec ATX- and if the card gets fried... well thats what the 3 year warranty is for!

I paid with a debit card and it was drafted from my account on Monday. I havent check to see if it was put back in by some stroke of luck, but I'm pretty sure it hasnt. I've read numorous posts on HardOCP forums where they have not been charged yet and FexEx says they are on their wasy to them. One guy even had it sitting infront of him and still hadnt been charged yet.

Like I said over there, I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who actually paid for his card, heh.

For those needing a new power supply:

$79.99 - $35 (instant rebate)- $20 (mail-in rebate) = $24.99

As far as charges go...my account hasn't been charged yet.

I have one of these PSU's...I wouldn't recommend it for a power hungry video card. The peak 12V rails are only 18A. I damaged two BFG 6800 w/ it. I replaced it w/ a PC P&C ATV Silencer 470 w/ 24A 12V rail. It's OK for an average system, not high end.

Awe... I thought I was just some freak accident in billing. Well if a majority of us aren't being charged, they'll be charging us later. Maybe they're defferring the charges to boost early earnings for next quarter? Although if I remember from accounting correctly, that doesn't adhere to US GAAP

just got mine and noticed that the memory is a little lower than spec @ 560 instead of 575. would this make much of a big deal? should i give them a call? i would assume that it should work at 575 as advertised....gpu is right on @ 520....

i think mine too was a actual refurb, not that i care. was the handwritten number by the power connector? and there was a hint that it may have been installed, the gold contact showed a very light line through each one. don't really care though as i can play bf2 @ 1280x960 all high, 6AA and shadows and lighting off and have a great fps. i did notice my total ram usage did go over 1GB, to 1.15GB........

No freakin' way. They did a hold on my card a few days before they shipped them out and the hold was already dropped, they just haven't withdrawn the money from my account. The "hold" process is just to see if the funds are available.

Don't worry, they'll get around to charging you soon enough.

No softmodding necessary. I just used ATITool to test the max stable core and memory speed individually, and then tested them together. ATI's drivers have a feature called Overdrive in the advanced properties that overclocks the card by a small amount during usage. The card is fast enough that I'm not worried about using ATITool to overclock it and I'm just going to use ATI's Overdrive feature.

560 is the stock mem speed on the X800XT PE. The ATI site specs are wrong.

i looped the 3dmark03 demo for about an hour @ 1280x1024 4AA to see if there are any psu/video card problems and i can report all is ok. i am sure i am the bleeding edge of my psus ability, but ther have been no stability issues whatsoever. i tried the omega drivers and it doesn't seem to install everything, because after the omega driver install, i get a "found new hardware" page, any else have this issue?

also, my case temps went up by 2-3C from the card, so what the ati tech told me was a little off because 2-3C i a definate increase (~36F), but i don't know where the sensor is on the board, for all i know it could be right next to the card.

all in all, for $233 shipped, i couldn't be happier. i will just lower the setting down so i stay under 1GB of total ram usage so i don't hit the hdd. probably just take moving a coupe of items to medium, and it still looks good.

also, i was actually pretty surprised at the weight of the card, d@mn it has one hell of a hsf on it...

what would guys say is the hardest map on bf2 for a gpu? i would like to test it on there so all the others will be fine.

thanks to the op for turning us on to this excellent hot deal looks like when i upgrade, i will be seriously thinking about that uli chipset along with a skt939 or m2 cpu.....but not for some time now )
