OMG! I was just playing F.E.A.R Demo and it looks awesome. Please be aware though that if you try Fear that is still has alot of work to be done to get it where they should be at. I had some paging issue at certain spots like when I would turn around a corner and I think it is just no coded right. However, everything else is awesome with the slow motion feature with the bullets and everything at Max detail. Upgraded from a 9800 Pro and definitely see a noticable improvement.

Yeah, the FEAR SP Demo is awesome. I'm running it at 1600x1200 high quality (except volumetric lighting? at medium). I get a slight stutter when moving into a new area, but it otherwise plays great.

Yes and it just makes the wait seem that much longer! OTOH it is nice to see the results everyone is getting.

honestly, i really didn't notice it and when i viewed it, i was amazed that it was 1.4GB, almost to the point of disbelief, which is the highest i have ever seen it and also why i did a scree print. but, like i said earlier i am contributing this to the speed of the scsi hdd. ymmv depending on your hdd.

some time ago i did a little testing as to how much a difference a fast system/game/pagefile drive makes. at that time i was playing bf1942. i pulled out one stick or ram so i only had 512MB of ram an knew that i would usually hit ~700-800MB, so i knew i would use the pagefile. with the scsi hdd in, you couldn't even tell and the machine felt the same (this was not a scientific test, but just a "seat of the pants" test), but when i put everything on a ibm 60GB(which is a very fast 7200rpm 8MB cache hdd), the difference was night and day.

this 1.4GB amount seems to be an oddity as it has only happend the one time and like i said, if it wasn't on my machine i would be very skeptical if somebody told me that bf2 used 1.4GB of ram @ 1280x960 4AA. it does seem like the norm is <1.2GB.

why your 5200 only uses a max of ~520MB is beyond me...what are your settings?

I think that is normal, my fan does the same couple seconds in the boot up, and then goes back to normal speed

Has anyone not been charged by shop ATI yet. I recieved my x800pro like thursday of last week and I still haven't been charged for it. I was just wondering if I am really lucky or if they are just slow charging people.


Edit: Just saw someone else's post about slow charging.

At bootup, my card's fan spins louder and then quiets down after a few seconds. I even noticed it speeding up at times while running 3DMark05. Its almost like there's a temp sensor on it and kicks the fan up.

And yes... there is

Does a pretty good job cooling. Run ATI Tools to find max and the temp shoots up like 1 degree C. every 2 seconds and close the program and cools back down to 42 in just a few seconds

i would game on it first to see if you need to o/c. it just plain screams.

Anyone else notice that if you enable Temporal Anti Aliasing on BF2... the graphics suck? After messing w/ all of the settings... the best graphics come out of "Let the application decide"

Was told by the ATI rep that it would ship 3-5 days from today...but I take that as a grain of salt because I was also told it would be 2 weeks from a couple days ago...YMMV...

And I tested the theory if they will be charging or not...I placed an order with a card that was good and I knew it didnt have the balance on it to cover the card...and my order was held up...

So if you havent seen the charge I'm almost sure ATI has a hold on that $$$ and will get it in due time

Just as others predicted we are nearing the end of the month...and they seem to want to move these cards...

does anybody know if changing the hsf voids the warranty? i don't want to o/c it, but out of all the fans in my rig, that one has a different pitch, and it changes all the time. i would like to put a hs with constant motion fan on it. it is louder than my 92mm @ 3000rpm...

I'd think modifying the hardware would void the warranty, wouldn't you?

not always. i could keep the original in case there were any issues down the road.
