The "charging" of credit card is merely an authorization.
After you guys were talking about the overnight shipping...I felt cheap, so I placed another small order with overnight...HOWEVER...my card was rejected and so I updated my order with another card but in the meantime it sent me this...
"Thank you for your recent order with Egghead.com. At this time, we
are unable to obtain an authorization on your American Express credit
card ending with digits 10?? for $129.68. If you would like the
specific reason we were unable to receive an authorization, please
contact the issuing bank.
We will hold your order for 2 business days from the date of this
e-mail. During this two-day period our automated service may retry for
authorization of the credit card on file."
So...they are not charging the cards yet, but merely authorizing them.
if they do make good on it (ha) the majority of you people are just using this board to make as much money as you can and screw other members out of the deals. You guys that are ordering 8 or 9 are assholes plainly put. kind of sad.
Nope...its not charged yet...trust me I received the same email and the same status from their website.
I thought it was weird of them to charge before they shipped the items anyway, and now we know they AUTHORIZE the charge right away (calling it a charge) and then after they ship they really charge your card.
If you're looking for the link follow moolman's advice:
1) Go to www egghead.com (purposely unlinked)
2) In the right hand side search for 101607
End of hand holding.
Nightmare - I don't like how the preview order page doesn't list your credit card number or even the last few digits. Just in case I went to the MyEgghead link and re-entered my credit card info. I hope that everyone realizes that merchants first do an authorization request before actually charging your credit card (aka: a hard post/charge). To find out if your credit card has a hard post/charge from Egghead.com check with your credit card company by either logging into their web site or calling them. If they see a charge from Egghead.com with the amount then you should be considered LUCKY. Otherwise it's probably just a prelimenary authorization.
I ordered two sticks with overnight shipping ($59) that's the most I have ever spent on shipping but I wanted to get in on this deal.
Everyone remember the free Insider DVD courtesy of Amazon? and our favorite the C4Sure Bunny!
Does anyone know how much completed auctions at eGay are selling this RAM for?
Convex does make a good point though. If the deal does go through it would benefit more people if a select few people didn't hog up 8+ at a time. Just buy it for your personal use and more people can get in on the deal. But then again I guess the old addedge about the early bird and the worm does ring true.
