On the HD comment, since I want to to IDE RAID for two servers, it is impossible to use 2 drives for 2 servers in Raid unless I spend $100K or so for some fiber clustering action, and that kind of defeats the purpose. WIth the cache on the RAID card I think it will balance out the purchase.

sorry to dissapoint you... but apparently the barracuda iv's are really $hitty in raid. i've seen a couple posts about it... seagate claims their internal speed is too fast or some crap?? you may want to do some searching.

Its not the coupon code we want, he's already used that and its useless anyway. I just want to know what I'm looking for in the box with all that junk. Between my family and me, we have recently purchased 3 Dells and I've looked in 1 of the boxes but don't know what I'm looking for! A scan would clear things up for me just so I know I'm not overlooking something...

Why are you all ordering the 4500S? I think the 4500 is a much better value it's a few bucks more (if you got it on the SB $100 MIR and $50 coupon deal) ... plus the 4500's case offers A LOT more expansion possibilities.

Yeash I have my reasons these computers are for office use with mainly client database/word processing/internet etc. So expandability is really not an issue, also they are EXTREMELY quiet computers using squirrl cage fans.

For a home computer for computer gurus a 4500 would be great, but honsetly I wouldn't purchase a computer from anyone I would build one (and have lots).

tphong: ON your RAID comment, I agree that SCSI ROCKS, but IDE is about 1/4th the price - it does have lower performance, but I saive 75% or so, and get the reliability, and more speed than 100BT can carry anyways so what the hey?

That's what I thought too, but you may want to test your card out to make sure it is doing the job before you put real data on it. I recently had one of my 2 120GB drives croak, only to find out that the other one was still blank. The software reported the mirror as fully operational, and didn't even tell me when the one died. I just heard the clunking! This was with the $100 Adaptec array controller too. Now I'm just xcopying every night for backups. That way I know my data is good.

what the F are you talking about? i daddy taught me to read good.

i checked all the lappie documents, inserts and what not, mailed booklets and never received a code... so no go!!. oh, on a sidenote, dell's rebate center are full of dumbazzes. they voided my rebate for no apparent reason. now gotta call to beyatch and complain for my $100 buckaroos.
