Link

Free electronic filing for households earning under 25k.
If you are a student, like me, you probably don't earn this much cash.
Turbo tax offers this for low income families, but for students, it works too cause we file seperately from our parents.

Warning: You must enter the turbo tax site everytime throught this link to not get charged the $30 for your Federal + State Forms!

Getting $550 back!

Edit: Title, warning, and cashback for me! 2/03/02

Wow... I'm bumping this baby back up. It saved me (a poor graduate student living off of his assistantship) hours and hours of time, and I'm getting back $885

Graduate students unite!

Great post. I just found out I will receive a $1232 refund.

I paid $20.00 last year to e-file my return; this year free thanks to A.T.

Bump for a good deal. The 1040EZ is really short, and lets me put "real" info on my FAFSA.

I've used turbotax.com every year for the last three years. Everytime they have never charged me. Even this year I made $42,000 and they didn't charge me a cent.

Just try it, go though the process and toward the end it says you don't have to pay. Its kinda misleading at first, but just try it. Even if they plan on charging you it wouldn't be until the end and you'd know when you are paying.

Trust me!! try it

I'm gettin $1000 back this year!

i'm not sure, but i think you have to know how much you made in 2000 (or maybe what your refund was) in order for it to be free..(and to do it online, otherwise i think you have to send in a signature)

I file electronically too. Free is good!

Now...

From a financial standpoint, getting money back is bad. It means that you paid the government too much money and basically loaned them that amount interest free. How many hot deals could you have gotten in on if the government didn't have your money.

That being said, I usually get money back each year. I'm a college teacher and have a consulting business (think estimated taxes). Try as I might, I can never get it right. I haven't filed yet (gotta get all my paperwork together).

Anyway...this is a good deal. I've used Turbotax for about 5+ years now. It's a great program!!

What is the difference between turbo tax freedom on the web and turbo tax deluxe on the computer?

I already completed my taxes, but have yet to send it in... didn't want to pay for the e-file fee, but I do make under 25k so I qualify for ttfreedom. How do I get my data from tt deluxe to tt freedom?

Thanks

my friend made $40k last year --he is single, had only one job but he only got $800 back. is it because he got the CAL Grant worth $10,000? or maybe because he filed through his dumb accountant?

Just a note of warning to everyone, if your state is not ready to do electronic filing yet (i.e., Minnesota), you do not find this out until the end of the TurboTax filing process, then it won't let you e-file either return. There is no way to start over and just do your Federal. I ended up saying screw it and filing for free through TaxACT.com.

Getting $1k back. (I only made $10k gross last year!)

it depends on a lot of things.

First, how many dependants, and second how much interest you earned.

The more that is taken out, the bigger your return, the more interest you make, the less your return, there are no taxes taken out by the bank.
