You can definitely send in two rebates for two drives, just not both to Sam's. Sam's gives you a special rebate receipt (at the bottom of your regular receipt). So to get $40 from them, you send in the rebate receipt and a UPC from one of the boxes. For the rebate straight from WD, you'd send in the other UPC and your Sam's receipt (remember, you only sent sam's the REBATE receipt).

Shouldn't be any problem.

I did call WD and they will accept Retail drives purchased from Sams for the $30 rebate....

So now this kicks the 30.7 gig one up to $89 plus Tax...
(the 20.5 gig will get the $40 Sams rebate)
How good of a deal is this?
Where can I get a better 30 gig drive for arounfd the same price?

Bummer...great deal but I do not want 5400rpm drives...no 7200 rpm drive at this Sam's

Macro: For another $10 you could get a 7200 rpm 30 gigger.

Buy.com has the Quantum Fireball LM 30 gig drive for $160. Use a $30 off $150 coupon, and the Quantum $30 rebate, and your total cost is $100. Free shipping at Buy.com right now.

This drive is one of the highest rated drives available. I own it, and it's great. Very very fast.

Thanks for the post. I picked up two 20.5's today at the Sams in Matteson IL. They still had 14 left on the shelf. They were listed at $139, rang up $99, and I printed out the rebate form for Sam's $40 rebate.

I didn't see any different sizes or else I would have bought bigger too.

Thanks again for the post,
Eddie

******VICTORY IS MINE********(well, actuallty my girlfriend's ...I told you she was a keeper)

This hard drive delivered from Staples for 47.73 and I will get a 30.00 WD rebate.

http://www.staples.com/Catalog/Browse/SKU.asp?BCFlag=False&PageType=1&SKU=IM1009815

We didnt push the free 14.99 camera on the deal. I felt like I was already pressing my luck

Read the thread to see how I (she) did it. Price Match and two staples coupons. I would have liked the 20 gig one for free but the local Sams was out and I needed one in stock to push this issue. Sunday they had this one in stock. Staples does carry the 20 gig if you want to give it a try.

Good luck

I just picked up the 45GB... BY FAR the best Price/GB if you're looking for a secondary/storage hard drive. $149 w/ $40 rebate = $110!!!

That's like $2.45 per GB...

An 80GB 5400 RPM Maxtor is sitting at around $310, or $3.88/GB and the 60GB is $215 or $3.58/GB..

AWESOME DEAL

As of today at lunch the store at Manchester and 270 in St. Louis only had one left (after I took one).

Jatwell,
What are you going to do with 45 gig of HD space. Just curious...

Also where do you see the speed difference between a 7200 and 5400 drive?

I just picked up a 20 gig in Dothan Alabama. $99 - 40 = sweet. Best thing about it if you have more spare cash is that it is $40 on any WD Drive from Sam's and they had the 45 gig priced around $149 (don't remember exactly). I couldn't go that high right now, so I'll have to be happy with my 20/7200 for awhile. Now I can move my 13/5400 to my wife's system (replace the 3 gig she's currently using).

BTW.. this is the cheapest drive I've ever bought... and the largest drive as well... gotta love it!

The Auburn, WA store had over 40 of them when I was there about an hour ago. I got two, so I will get the WD $30.00 rebate on the second one. Here is a link to the form: WD Rebate Form

Hey Cab3 I must have followed you in to the St. Louis Manchester store...they had one left when I got there and none when I left

The south county Sams in st. louis had quite a few left as of 9/12/00 evening.

59 bucks for a drive...you can't afford NOT to get one (or two). Discover card had a little coupon for $10 off a sams purchase so I got one of my drives for $49 after all ap-plicable discounts!

Thanks to whoever brought this to the table!

Curious..... How do I prove to the CSR at Staples, whether it be on the phone or in my local store that SAM's Club has the hard drive for that price and the rebate?

Well, I finally purchased mine today. And the Sam?s in Lantana FL still had 12 left after mine. I am glad to see so many people get into this deal. My first successful Hot Deal. But not my last I hope. Anadtech is a great site and I am glad to see the Tech community getting together to help each other out. Remember, Hot Deals Rule. I almost forgot, Ape Out.

People are reporting that they can't get a price match even at regular retail with Sams let alone with the MIR.

But you call in and tell them the price. 79.98 for the 30.7. They call Sams. They get back on the phone and say ...but that included MIR. Then you go through the negotiations. I really think that one will be case by case on how successful you will be. I could try it again on another deal and get hammered on it. That is why I like my store. They will do it on every deal.

Then 25 Staples Coupon
and a 10 Staples coupon which is a coupon that can be used in stores or online

uhhhh...the coupons are on different sites..if you dont know one try a search since we cant post them here

You may not be able to pull off the 10 staples coupon because that is a more selective coupon and they may make some kind of notation.. I have no idea. I kind of doubt it considering how disorganized this company can be.

I had two 10 coupons with the same code and made an order. Then when I tried to use the second one they wouldn't let me do it because it said I had already used it. After much explanation of why I had the coupons (their Screwup and they came after I had to call the Office of the President)..they gave me a Different coupon code to use. They also said I could fax them in but I wasnt around a fax at the time

So that is how you get it. You could get the 20.5 basically for free (after WDC rebate) with the same deal if your Sams has it in stock

btw, I am hearing that Sears will price match anything. I have had success with Sears on the TIVO with the Amazon 99 dollar deal but never tried anything else. So that might be another alternative if they carry it.

okay.... i couldn't get the csr to price match the 20.5 7200rpm hdd to sam's price AFTER the rebate but i did get them to PM it to the $99.99 price..... then i wanted to use the $25 off $75 coupon and the guy asked me where I got it from. Hehe, I didn't know what to say, so I said my friend gave it to me. He said all coupons are non-transferable AND the coupon was already used...... anyone wanna help me with this?

Basically if it goes through,

I would have paid $99.99 - $25 for the coupon I wanna use = $75 + tax.... Then I send in the rebate for $30 to Western Digital and the hdd would come to a total of around $45 plus the tax on $75........

that's better than the sam's club price of $60..... but I need help with the coupon use..... Guy was a dick and put it in the notes that I said I got it from a friend..... So now i have to put another order thru.... hopefully then won't check that order........

EDIT: Duh...... Man, I just read the coupon restrictions on the staples website and all that he said is true (I didn't doubt him anyway)..... But how do you guys get away with using the coupon thru a CSR? I mean it work'd fine for me on the website..... but what do you tell the CSR? how do these coupons even get to people? does staples email them straight to you? And let say that's how they did it. If i said i got the coupon in my mailbox, but it shows up already been used...... what do i say then? some1 wanna help me out?
