I was one of the early birds who got on this deal. I just received an email from Dell that they are delaying the ship date from 6/5 to 6/19. I see this as an encouraging sign since they are still trying to honor the purchase, at least for this moment.

Your credit card would always have a temporary charge followed by Dell's acknowledgement mail because of Dell's automated system. But this does not guarantee you will receive the printer. The temp transaction is just to see whether you have sufficient credit for the order.

I have question thou...in my haste to capitalize on this Hot Deal, I did not bother to research this printer much. Maybe this is for another forum, but what other factors are there in color photo printer quality besides DPI? I saw that a few lower cost printers (HP .940cdeskjet =$139-149 ) seem to have the same dpi.
What else is there to compare? (I don't care about speed).

Too bad, because this printer is like 4x faster than other printers in its regular price range. It is also a larger format printer, I don't remember the exact paper size but it will do prints larger than 8.5x11. It is also a 6 color printer, which is more common nowadays, being 6 colors instead of 4 means it can make a wider variety of colors (a larger gamut is the technical term) which makes images look more realistic. It also has seperate ink cartridges for each color so you can replace them as you run out rather than having to toss a half-fulll cartridge just because one color ran out.

this printer is good for its quality and its large paper format.. im only buying t his one because i need to feed it super B sized paper, (11x17) and even bigger.. the S900 is just the same, but without this large format support.

There are reports on dpreview.com that people are starting to get their printers, even when the status still shows as delayed or pending, so be on the lookout if you ordered one.

If you don't mind buying non-OEM ink cartridges, you can get all 6 cartridges (a complete set) for $14.95 at TylerMartin.com. They are listed as "Canon S800 (B/M/C/Y/PM/PC) 6 Pack" but they are also for the S9000. I ordered a set and had them within 3 days via Priority Mail. I haven't gotten my printer yet, but I have read several people's thoughts on these particular cartridges and they seem to work just as well as the OEMs in the S9000. A lot cheaper too. Hope this helps someone.

I hope the luck is not only on my side but all of you too. I bought this printer for $450 after 10% off before the price was shown in error for $349. (at least Dell said it was a price error!). I called Dell when the price dropped and asked for the credit for the difference. My request was approved though. Today when I checked my credit card statement online, Dell indeed did not break their promise to me and credited me back the whole difference. I just thought, if I can have that price of $349 for the printer, you guys may as well. Good luck to all.

Yep, I keep track of dpreview.com also and people are indeed getting their printers. One that had a ship date of july and got theirs already. Mine still says in production, 6/16 ship date. Who knows though.

Yeepee! I got my S9000! I just received it a couple minutes ago from UPS. There's no email notification from Dell and the shipping date on the order status site still says 6/15. Dell is definitely shipping it. Hope you guys who made the purchase will enjoy it soon!

I got mine today as well. Still shows Pending 6/15 on Dell's site. Mine was brand new - no signs of being refurbished like some had reported. Good job by Dell for honoring the misprice.

I received mine too. if anyone wants to take the upc code off my hands, i have no use for it...for a reasonable price that is. not 50/50, but $20 doesn't cut. I live in florida, we get stuck with tax buying from Dell -- rat bastids. PM me

I also got mine today. Mine hadn't been opened either but it had the 1.50 driver in it. The people that had been getting the open ones just had the bag with the cd and stuff opened and they put in the 1.52 driver. That's OK. I got it from the website. I printed out some pic's. Awesome.

why oh why was i so hesitant to click on the order button. i suppose the fact that i didn't know if i could pay it off played a part of it.. but darn it.. now that i can.... BLAH.

btw, if anyone orders from that tyler martin place... keep us updated on how the ink works out. eventually, i'll get an s820.. it's impossible to get walmart to print my photo's, and their online thing takes over a week to get... and the local ritz wants $9/sheet of 8x10.. they won't do 4x6 print outs. ugh.

Check out the forums at dpreviews.com. Do a search in the printer forum for tyler martin. You might have some luck there.
