This is not a standalone unit, it is a cd changer for your car (installed in trunk or under a seat). I think the only think your deck needs to be is either OEM (i.e. Toyota, Honda, etc.) or Sony and CD-TEXT head unit is recommended if not necessary (not sure, I didnt check because I have a cd-text head unit). If you have an OEM head unit then you will need to buy an adapter for it but it should work.

It was no problem, I actually got this for my birthday present (12/4 if you guys were wondering). I will let you guys know how it is when I get back from work tomorrow (I am getting it installed while I am at work)

Do you have an Xplod deck too? Sony is really bad at posting manuals and such for older car audio equipment so if theres anything you find you like or dislike please let me/us know.

Yes I have a Sony Xplod deck (the cdx-c7050x). I will definately post how I feel (good and bad) about this.

This is a great unit!!! Only downside to it is that it reads from id3 tags but it shortens them to 8 characters (i.e. LUDACR~1). Other than that its great. Got it installed suspended from the top of my trunk. It has a very smooth ejection mechanism. I would highly recommend it from someone looking for a cd changer.

no its not, sony doesnt make adapters to non-sony headunits with this changer.

i suggest getting a universal cd changer universal FM changers

or you can always get a sony headunit with that cd changer. if anybody needs help installing and in the S Cali/LA area, i would be glad to be of service. can provide pictures of car systems i have done.

nope. Its an aftermarket - meaning that this is for Xplod decks only

thanks inverse for the heads up on this. i happen to have a busted cdx-m750 (misaligned cd laser im guessing... cds wont play anymore) and ive been looking at the 10 disc but the price on this 6 disc is too good to pass up.
