Hot deal on Domain Hosting

Do any of these companies support ASP?
I doubt Onestop.net does as they seem to by unix/linux (unless they have chilisoft)

I really want to find a hosting place that allows ASP and I wish I could find a place that allows for SQL Server (though I doubt anywhere will). Maybe at least access?

Speaking of SQL server, does anyone know if I could connect to my own SQL server on my personal internet gateway pc (which sits there and cracks RC5) which is running on pacbell DSL?
It should work unless these servers are behind a firewall that stops OUTBOUND data on whatever port SQL Server uses (1717?)

Maybe I could host the whole page + database on my pc. Without too much traffic I doubt pacbell would even know.
Would that be possible if I regestired a domain name?
Would I still need to pay for DNS service?

Try www.ewebcity.com for your ASP needs. Their general membership is free, you get 30 megs with it and Access DB support. However, your site will be _really_ slow with general membership. For $10.95 a month, they'll host your domain name, give you 10 megs of SQL Server space, an email component to send emails through your ASP page, and put you on a separate server from the general members. You'll still have to register your own domain name first though.

Hey, I also am a forum member from HorizonWS, and I have been watching this thread for quite a while now. I couldn't reply to Hector13's query privatly so I decided I would answer to the group.

The comment about namezero is correct, I have a domain there after being one of the early people to get picked, at first the email was quick and support was good and now I haven't been able to use the email in months. If I send something there I don't get it at all or it takes up to 4 days later, after thinking it was working well I added that email address to my resume and totally regretted it because I had a woman call me and say she sent me a job offer to seal the deal and I couldn't even get it, doesn't look too good going for a job in IT and not able to retrieve your email. I had to pay 14.95 to transfer my domain since they tell you that you own it but if you check the records they are all the contacts which is annoying, I sent them a check weeks ago and I still haven't heard back. With domain registration so cheap nowadays I would avoid that hot deal.

they all show up in the internet database as me owner.

I just signed up for servercentral a few days ago. It is legit. They run Cobalt servers and keep the systems pretty up-to-date, have very high reliability, but, depending on who you talk to, are not necessarily very flexible if you need something custom installed. I do not know what they run now, but it seems very fast and within a month or so they will have a dual OC-12 Fiber Optic link. So, unless you really need something special, this is the best deal you are going to get from a decent sized company who will give you professional service!
