SVCompucycle is one of the best online retailers I've bought from in the last year. Four out of four orders from them were filled perfectly and at record speed.

Hi guys,

Just thought I'd let you know I ordered my stuff on 3-16-02 and it was in my mailbox today 3-20-02. I've installed 5 of the 12 cables so far and everything seems to be fine.

I really like the little 10" floppy cable. It seems to short but it fits perfectly in my Lian Li case with a KK266+ motherboard.

I just ordered a Radeon 8500 from buy.com and noticed that they carry rounded IDE cables now, $5.99 for 18in, I think the next longer lengths were a dollar more. "round ide" should bring them up as search results there.

I'd think they'd be handy things to toss in your basket once you qualify for the >$99 free shipping.

Seems like everyone has had a better experince with SVC than me.

Ordered 6g of AS3 and 5 ATA-133 cables on Sat.

Package arrived Thur 3/21 (along with my new case, mobo, ram and P4 1.6A)

Only got 3g of AS3 and all 5 cablles were the wrong ones.

Sent an email to them 3/21.

Ended up calling them 3/22 -- said it takes 2 days to deal with shipping/order questions.

Hope to hear from them Monday about how to resolve this.

Nice deal, beats my red wire loom... One question though, while I was there I also noticed some 256mg Samsung pc2700 33mhz for only $82, is this good stuff. I'm new to the DDR world.

I would like to warn anyone who may be contemplating placing an order with Ability Wholesale . They are a shifty operation at best. They're customer service is, for all intents and purposes, non-existant. The prices are good (that's how I was suckered in), however, after an order is placed and a charge is made on your credit card...you can just forget about changing your order. They DO NOT answer e-mail. They DO NOT answer the telephone. They most certainly DO NOTgive your money back whether they ship you the correct product or not. Threats don't get results. Neither does begging. They just don't care. Don't just take my word for it...read the reviews at resellerratings.com and they've even removed some of the more virulent comments. While you're there, check out reviews for Webuildpcs.com, too. They're operated by the same parent company i.e. Central Computers. Believe me when I tell you, the buck or two you save will not be worth the ensueing aggrevation.

???

Is there any advantage to the slick looking silver/metal cables???

They cost more and other than looks the only think I can figure is they might be a hazard because they could conduct electricity????

thanks

Trikster: For extra safety in running your computer, I would recommend cables that do NOT conduct electricity.

Make your own rounded cables using this stuff. It works great.

Tommy Tape.

No affiliation... blah. blah. blah

<EDIT>Except for the fact that the site is down. Not sure if they went out of business or what. Oh well good thing I have an extra roll of this around.</EDIT>

Of course I wouldn't argue problems can't (sorry for double negative) occur using these type cables, but most of the conductive metal in a computer is either insulated or design to fit into something that is insulated. With that said, if anything gets shorted out, it will probably destroy something. I will be taking special precautions against these shorting out by using plastic ties to keep them securely in place away from pins on the MB or solder spots on drives or cards.

I chose the silver braided because they will match whatever color cathode I choose to use. Also, if I go aluminum in the future, these will blend nicely with that also.

Does anyone know if you can pick these up at local stores, such as CompUSA??? I'm in Atlanta and will probably order from SVC, but would love to have them NOW!

I have a 24X TDK burner and two hard drives. I have my 100GB storage drive on the same ribbon as the 24X burner and my primary hard drive (45GB) by itself. I want to add a new DVD Rom (the one I got from Dell for $32), but these ATA100 ribbons aren't long enough to hook them up together. So, I am thinking of buying a couple of SVC's 36" rounded cables!

Uuhhmm, I believe the braided cables have a clear "hose" covering them. I don't own any, but I read it in a review somewhere.

That's good to know. I'll look at the picture more carefully, but I've already got 5 of them ordered. I can't wait to get my stuff hooked up. I haven't been able to finish hooking up two computers because of lack of the right length/made cables. Hopefully these will solve that issue.

Yes,

I bought 10 of the 18" ata133's silver. They are encased in plastic. You won't short anything.

Ok question, is there a difference between ATA-100/66 cables and ATA-133 cables? Im using an ATA-133 Drive on an ATA-133 controller card, but Im using an ATA-100 cable. I like the silver cables, but I like the single device ATA-100/66 and wanna know if those are ok, or if there really is an advanatge to using ATA-133 cables.

<< SVC is a solid company. I've ordered hosts of small parts from them in the past, and shipping is fast. They even beat Newegg by two days. Overall, one of the best online retailers there is out there. >>

AGREED! Not only is their service top notch and their p[rices excellent, but the GC68 is without a doubt THE BEST HS/FAN for the $$$!

Great price on the LVD cables. Wonder if I'd need a terminator if I just use the last connector.
