I just got back from Walmart in Tennessee "Jefferson County" and seen a Sound Blaster Audigy interal sound card for $99.00 seems like a hot deal!

that price is no good... its retail... no one should pay retail on something that came out over a year ago especially for technology related equipment.... go to www.pricewatch.com and educate yourself.

sorry, $99 is not a deal. That's the retail price as some people have already pointed out. Maybe Nemisis should have listened to the advice in his sig! .

The retail audigy mp3 is $89.99 shipped at amazon
Circuit city, Best buy, and Compusa all show $99.99.

Show the the price at your walmart is the retail price of the card.
It's hard to find a really good price on the retail version of the card as soundblaster has a monopoly on retail sound baords.
I don't see the retail version of this card on sale often.
Even newegg is $85 + 7 shipping.

I'm not sure there is a audigy mp3 oem version.
Is the difference between the mp3 audigy and regular one just the bundled software?

Good deal
Just a warning - You may not want this card if you have any tv card. It combines ALL volumes to 1 input control. This means the tv app (such as ATI TV) cannot control the volume. I have the AIW 8500dv and I have to use the mic in so I can control the volume via the tv app. So no stereo tv for me. Search the newsgroups for this & the "squeal of death" that exists.

Again, this is a good deal, but card may not for everyone.

We sell the oem version over the counter for ~$59.00.
And RadioActive, yes I belive the only difference is the software bundle and the gold connects that come with the retail version.

Yeah I've sworn off of Creative cards. My live! card hasn't had drivers updated in over 2 years for win98, shows how much Creative cares about its customers. And that was WHILE the whole thing with VIA and Live was going on.
Besides that, creative has done some pretty underhanded and deceptive marketing on the new card, like the supposed 20 bit 96 htz support (which doesn't exist).

Basically creative is sitting on thier behinds and haven't changed the hardware all that much since the Live! came out, and my theory is that one of the reasons they aren't updating drivers all that much is because they want you to buy a new card every 6 months or wahtever.

Just my 2 cents.

BTW, mp3 and gamer only differance is software. With OEM you don't get that software anyway.

Not even a discontinued-but-still-supported Aureal Vortex SQ2500 OEM card? Runs about $20, and plays everything I've thrown at it excellently. Also supported for 3D sound in many games, with A3D 2.0 support, and SPDIF output for running DTS DVDs to an external DTS audio decoder. Still, future support is probably up in the air, much like Voodoo3 cards.
