question I have the 7k60 in my lappy. At the current time I don't need more HD space but I was wondering performance wise is the 7k200 relatively the same as the 7k60. If it's faster I'm definitely upgrading. I'll prob need the space in the future anyways

Not a fan of Hitachi as that's what came in my Compaq lappie, albeit only a 60gb drive. I bought a Seagate SATA 160GB for around $89 at New Egg back around the end of August. THAT seems like a good deal. $150 for a 200gb is just meh...

Grats on your 5400rpm hd.(Possibly 4200rpm?)

This is for a 200gb 7200rpm 16mb cache drive.

Went to my local BB today, Rock Hill, SC. They had two of these. Had fully planned on spending the $143.

UNTIL I saw the WD 250GB for $160. Decided the extra 50GB was worth $17 and the speed I probably wouldn't notice anyways.

Drive inside the WD was a 2500BEVS. Retails for $170 on newegg, so $10 cheaper at BB with a USB enclosure.

Anyone having issues with swapping hard drives?

I put in my 80 gig mac formatted hard drive into the casing and it turns on but doesn't detect it on the computer. I tried it on both Windows and Mac. Not even a physical find.

YES! Scored the last one in NYC (5th ave) with a DTG serial #. The girl even let me use the 10% off coupon. It didn't scan, so she put it thru manually. But the receipt reads "200gb 5400 PATA 2.5" external". If you connect it via USB first, will the proprties say "7k200" or 7200 and SATA before I open it up just to confirm?

Dont worry, the dtg I picked up from the same store is a 7k200.

Every best buy in the NoVA area had 7200's, decided to pick one up since the HD-DVD drives were all gone everywhere Thanks for the heads up! As a bonus the drive works fine with NCQ on my nforce430 chipset laptop making all the hours I spent trying to get it working on the old seagate momentus 5400.2 as waste as it was the drives fault
