Hot Deals are Dead

With the death of all the internet companies, comes the death of hot deals. I've been reading the hot deals posted up lately and its quite sorry. Remember when the internet stocks were booming? Those were the times to get on the hotdeals. It was so easy. Buy a bunch of stuff, sell on e-bay(back then, e-bay was so easy to use and buyers flocked there, lured by just the idea winning an auction), and make a couple of bucks. Now, its nothing but buy.com and staples. Do you guys agree?

hey guys, dont say anything about me ferenging...thats just the way it is-people ferenge. I wouldn't do it if I didnt have to. You well off people are ignorant. I don't get allowances from my mommy and daddy..if I want to get in a fad, for example- a razor, I can't ask daddy or mommy for it.

I just loved the people that tried to defend their practices of buying 40 of an item and depriving everyone else of the opportunity.

Of course, then there are the losers, "I know what you paid for that item so I'll offer you $X". If you don't think it's worth what someone is asking, then move on. Rather silly.

You're right, wu1chef, the Hot Deals have dried up. The halcyon days of Value America, Mercata's 50%, and unlimited coupons are gone along with the venture capital that was lost in the process. There are still some deals to be had, but with the death of even the 155% price guarantee, they are unfortunately few and far between.

Thats because they moronic companies, and the investors who subsidized their party-like spending of money are realizing that a business actually has to _make money_ to be worth doing.

Imagine that -- E-business needs to make money? What a radical notion! I thought if you just had "E" in your name or had a website, you could just sit around and burn venture capital?

Well, that seems to have been the attitude of most people in recent years. Too bad I didn't get involved for some massive IPOs.

I dont know how these company can lose money. The overhead is low, they reach the whole country, and there prices arent that great. The reason they lose money is because of advertising and there always expanding. If I was buy.com, i would stick to computers, and maybe dvds, but I would go in the automotive business.

They lose money because they have $500/ft^2 offices, over developed websites made by $10,000/day consultants, exorbitant salaries (or compensation based on options), thousand dollar espresso machines, and people fresh out of college that don't know jack squat about business.
