There is a new site, www.collegebooks101.com that allows you to buy and sell textbooks directly to/from other students. It allows you to cut out the bookstore eliminating their huge profit margin. They are just getting started, but it looks like it could be a hot deal!

well i for one hope this site gets off the ground....I hate only getting $10 for some book I paid over $80 for and then seeing it back on the shelf with a used sticker for $90....any of u in college know exactly what I am talking about.
If i start seeing more books on there in a month or so I'm positing mine fer sure

Well. Most college already have this kind of system.
Or you can post an ad on poster boards in your school to sell your books.
No shipping cost involved. Works almost all the time.

its cheaper and books are new. you end up ordereing from UK alot though.

It's ok though. Even if you order from the UK, with fast shipping, it's still substantially less than purchased here in the states.

For example.

General Chemistry book -$110 here at SJSU.
Infront.co.uk- $42 NEW. $60 TOTAL shipped within 3-5 working days.

$50 differnence. It's well worth the wait. And plus..order now and have them in time for school.

I actually found a book for $30 less ($70 vs $100) at walmart.com.

I loved amazon.co.uk this semester.

$208 for 2 books (calc and physic) in the book store here.

vs

$124 shipped (that includes the $34 EXPRESS shipping, i ordered 1/9 and got htem today 1/14 and that's over a weekend)

I had to order them express b/c my college started 1/7 so I needed them.

but still $84 difference even after the $30+ shipping....

Well worth it. I just got them and they are 100% new and sweeeet !

also, half the books for sale are his own, and the other 2 are some user named joe, who left him incredibly meaningless feedback, leading me to believe that he is also "joe" and makes up 100% of the users on his site. also I recommend buying and selling used textbooks on amazon.com, if i remember they do get something like 12% but then they give you like $2.50 to ship it (media mail of course) and that includes accepting credit cards.

i like half.com best, personally, but maybe this site will have a bright future. heaven knows our bookstores jack us too much.
