Hot deals on Dell Refurbs

I think this is pretty hot, as someone who buys for a small company. They're not too big on home-made PCs, they're not big on AMD, but they sure like Dell, and basically all I buy for them is Dell refurbs which you can get great deals on. Well right now, if you have a secretary or somebody with similar needs, you can get an unbelievable price on a Dimension. Check this out:

I believe these come with integrated sound and they all come with integrated video.

The first price is the old price, the second price is the real price. So for less than $300 you can have a very workable Dell system that will be great for 99% of users.

All things from DELL, refurb or new better work for the life of the product w/o hassels or you're going to be expecting a lot of hassels on the telephone trying to get things RMA'd from them. DELL is really cheap in prices sometimes, but they can afford to by hiring HS dropouts to handle ALL of their technical calls. They are run by bums.

I bought a SmartStep 250N refurb for $880 shipped, discounted it from $1160 for being a student and gave free shipping to my campus office. P4 2.4, REALLY well equipped.

Our campus has had ZERO trouble EVER from Dell, now like 8 years + in purchasing ALL computers for campus from them. My mom's school does the same, also with ZERO trouble. I've bought 4 computers from Dell, dropped my SmartStep notebook onto the ground and broke the LCD panel off. Unit was a refurb, Dell told me to keep the HD and shipped me a brand new one without HD for NO CHARGE, 2nd day air shipping.

My only complaint is if part of the Dell only cooling system goes out it can be expensive to replace.

Those laptop prices are not that great. You can get new ones off ebay for less than that from good sellers.

And who supports them?

Look, no one who builds/supports their own PCs would be interested in this deal. But for people who just want a PC that works, and someone to answer for it if it doesn't, this is unbeatable.

I was looking at Dell desktops one time they had 19 pages full, an hour later it was down to 3.

The smartstep are pretty kickass, mine was dropped atleast 6 times before the LCD broke off (mobile tech for the university, absolutely brutal on notebooks). Its definitely full featured, but at 8ish lbs its not the most mobile notebook ever. Performance reviews are variable, but my 250n outperforms my unmanipulated P4 2.2 512 meg RDRAM desktop. Biggest compaint is the paint blemmishes from contact with abrasive surfaces (like the inside of the backpack of someone on rollerblades). A yard of silk and a handy stitch made for a slip pocket to protect it.

Funny you mention that...seems like a lot of tech companies are doing that (Cisco, Sony, etc...)

Indian schools (well, some of them) are infinitately harder than their US counterparts.
